Free and open to the public, you can spend a day hiking the trails through the spectacular coastal landscape or get outdoors at an award-winning oceanfront campground. #TourismStrong: Mountain Biking In Maine’s Carrabassett Valley
Do you have a favorite trail to ride?
“People are just now beginning to think about how we all get back together? When do we start to ride in small groups...big groups? Where do we go from here?” These are the questions that Dave Hughes, board member at Carrabassett Region NEMBA and the tight knit #mountainbiking community are asking during the pandemic.
During lockdown, the benefits of the outdoors and exercise became more important than ever. The results are evident in the soaring rise in sales and service of bikes in every community. “Mountain biking is an incredibly social sport,” explains Dave. He sees this as a great opportunity to welcome new riders of all abilities to a sport he adores. From experienced shredders to new riders, solo or family groups, mountain biking is the perfect way to connect directly to the landscape and Carrabassett Valley, Maine the "crown" of the entire trail system. #TourismStrong #ExploreMaine #MELakesMtns

#TourismStrong: On the Trail to Rejuvenation in Western Maine
“Be prepared for whatever opportunity can present itself.” For Wolfe Tone, Executive Director of Maine Huts and Trails, being open to change in the face of uncertainty is a key lesson from this #pandemic. Even as they shut down the huts and refunded cancellations, the primary message to their members was one of well-being and strength as a community.
The story of Maine Huts & Trails is all about community. It’s an experience centered on people who thrive in nature. The pandemic stripped away for better and worse the many activities that filled our days, bringing focus to what really sustains us: family and community. Wolfe is looking ahead to see how Maine Huts & Trails can positively contribute to the family experience. Bringing workers and hikers back to the trails, lakes and landscape in a way that’s safe and appropriate is a priority. “I think we have that chance to create that opportunity for rejuvenation, of being outside and just experiencing Maine.” #TourismStrong #MELakesMtns #MaineHutsandTrails #MaineThing #VisitMaine Maine's Lakes & Mountains
