CREATOR SPOTLIGHT: Meet Christina Roberts and Bussy Gower - Executive Director and Artistic Director of !

Christina and Bussy, co-founders of Mile High Youth Theatre (MHYT), have been collaborating as theatre educators since 2018. Christina, a National Youth Arts award-winning director and Colorado native, began her career in education and holds a BA in Theatre Education from the University of Northern Colorado and an MA in Arts Leadership and Cultural Management from Colorado State University. Bussy, originally from Alaska, started her career as a performer, earning a BS in Theatre from Radford University. She has worked in regional theatres all over the United States, including Colorado's Miners Alley Playhouse, Backstage Breckenridge, Boulder Dinner Theatre, and more.

Together, Christina and Bussy bring over 20 years of combined experience in both performance and education to Mile High Youth Theatre, which opened in Congress Park in August 2023. MHYT is dedicated to empowering young people through the arts—teaching empathy, encouraging creative problem-solving, and building self-confidence. MHYT's upcoming productions of Hadestown: Teen Edition and Seussical Jr. at The People's Building will be the company's 10th and 11th productions, respectively.

Outside of their work with MHYT, Christina enjoys hiking, camping, and traveling with her partner, while Bussy, an avid skier, also enjoys spending time at home with her cat, Gatsby.

We can't wait to welcome them back into the space for their next two productions! Yay !

The People’s Building

The People’s Building is a City of Aurora owned, non-profit Arts, culture, and event space. We believe there is a direct link between the arts and a thriving community. This is a place where artists of all disciplines can explore, educate and perform while inspiring metro-area residents.

Through high-quality and affordable event, performance and rehearsal space, this is a place for those who have something to share. It's also a beautiful facility for meetings, social gatherings—and even the occasional wedding!
