JOB SUMMARY
This position is also responsible for understanding related Quality Management Systems including SQF, HACCP, and GMP to ensure safety and quality of employees and products.
The job duties include responsibility for assuring food safety and for food quality for SRO products.
A supervisor or other person of authority should be notified if any issues or threats to food safety or food quality are observed.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs training for new employees in absence of supervisor.
Responsible for assisting in supervision of QA technicians.
Communicates with QA Techs regarding production planning and issues when necessary.
Coordinates laboratory samples and performs in-house micro laboratory testing.
Performs swabbing for environmental monitoring.
Advises supervisor of any disciplinary issues.
Organizes operational paperwork on a daily basis for supervisory review.
Ensures that all products are produced consistent with SRODs high quality standards, and that employees strictly adhere to SROD procedures.
Ensures that facilities are maintained and all duties are performed in compliance with all applicable food safety standards and good manufacturing practices.
Communicates with Production Managers and Supervisors about any formula changes and/or product issues in the absence of the supervisor.
Assumes some responsibilities of the QA Supervisor in his/her absence.
Audit manufacturing lines for proper product weights, proper product assembly, proper oven/freezer temperatures, and correct packaging.
Record raw material lot numbers for traceability.
Print dated labels for finished products.
Collects raw material and finished product samples for both microbiological laboratory testing and retain samples.
Performs assignments in accordance with established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), policies and procedures.
Assures that all work assigned to position is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions and requirements.
Displays appropriate work ethics in the workplace and group settings which provides a positive influence on the production floor.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Demonstrates excellent verbal communication skills and coaching abilities.
Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned space.
Able to stay focused in a loud working environment.
Understands the management of Quality Systems and is familiar with SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices which help ensure the safety within the workplace and the production of a safe and quality product(s).
Other duties as required by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have reliable transportation.
Quality experience in the food industry required.
Must have a flexible schedule including overtime and weekends if necessary.
Proficient in reading and writing English, bilingual in Spanish preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to stand for at least 10 hours per day.
Use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
Stoop, kneel or bend.
Employee must lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and is required to ask for assistance if weight is exceeded.
Must be able to push/pull up to 45 pounds and is required to ask for assistance if weight is exceeded.
