Life is too short to sit around waiting for others to explore the world with you. 🌏Go on that solo trip!

These are a couple secrets about solo travel that you might not know 🤫
1. It can be scary, but it’s soooo rewarding. There is so much growth that happens on a solo trip. When you are forced to figure things out on your own (except you’re not on your own because you have me) you grow and build this sense of adventure. It’s amazing!

2. There are tons of other solo travelers that you can meet along the way! There are many places all over the world that encourage solo travelers like coffee shops, museums, local events, and even hotel lounges/bars.

3. The whole trip is exactly what you want it to be! You don’t have to ask anyone else what they want to do today. You can decide from sun up to sun down how you want to spend your time and that just sounds awesome to me!

Weekend getaway to Vancouver Island 🇨🇦

We hopped on a fast ferry from downtown Seattle and arrived in Victoria B.C. just a few hours later ✨

Visiting Diablo Lake in North Cascades National Park has been on my Washington bucket list for YEARS…🏔️ Long before I ever lived in Washington state! Last week we got lucky enough to snag a last minute campsite on the lake 🏕️ I couldn’t believe it!

What makes this lake so unique? ✨
In summer, the distinctive turquoise color of the lake is the result of suspended fine rock particles refracting sunlight. These rock particles, called glacial flour, enter the lake when rock from the surrounding mountains is eroded by ice and flows into the water through glacial streams. (Yep, the water is freeeeeezing)

Diablo Lake is located in one of the least visited National Parks in the U.S. - Even though it is within 100 miles of Seattle, the road is only accessible for about 2 months each year! Which only makes this rugged wilderness that much more magical 🩵

Foodies…This one is for you🥂

There are two types of traveling foodies — those who plan ahead and those who like to go with the flow.

Planning ahead can be great, allowing you to cast a wide net and hit the ground running or eating, depending on how you’d like to look at it.

But not planning and going with the flow can also result in fun and interesting experiences...

So which one best describes you? Do you like to pre-plan restaurants and other food experiences when you travel, or are you the type to wing it?

Personally, I have an entire Yelp list of places to try before I even set foot there 😂 (…And, yes, I’m happy to share those with my clients 🫶🏼)

It’s Friday!!! We’re using an exclamation point at the end of this sentence so you know we’re friendly and excited! But now we’re using a period so that you know we’re not too excited. Here's another sentence with a period as a buffer, proving our normalness. This weekend, have fun. Stay hydrated. Wear sunscreen. Make good choices when visiting parks. Life too. But that’s beyond our pay grade. (Let’s just not go viral in a way that your Grandma has to explain at her bridge club next Tuesday how you got carried off by a family of overstimulated squirrels because you gave them a ham sandwich, which turned into a commitment you just weren’t ready for.) In conclusion, be safe and have a great weekend in your parks. Period. Exclamation point.

1. This job can certainly be fun at times, but it’s also stressful and a lot of work too! Sometimes people just see the glitz and the glam and think this isn’t a real job, but it so is. 👩🏽‍💻

2. I think this is something most people don’t know. How do we get paid? We make commission from the supplier or brand of the hotel, transfer, etc. However, we only get paid if the clients GO on the trip. ✈️

3. There is sooo much more to working with an advisor than us just planning the trip! We have connections, knowledge, and expertise in the travel world that can be a huge asset during the whole travel process. 🌍

Whether you’re traveling alone or in the company of loved ones, there is a special destination out there for everyone to explore!

Here are a few things I ask my clients to consider when we choose a destination:
📌 Travel Time - How long will the travel time be from where you live? This can be especially important for families traveling with little ones!

📌 Language Barrier - While it is never “required” to speak the language, it is something to consider as it will be helpful to learn the basics to get around. Locals everywhere appreciate travelers who put in an effort to speak the native language 💛

📌 What is your travel goal? Are you looking for relaxation, adventure, experience, or maybe history? Of course it can be more than 1 thing, but this can help narrow down an area to stay in.

📌 What time of year do you plan to travel? Most places have “low” and “high” season for tourists - Choosing the right time to visit depends on your vacation goals.

📌 Do all travelers have a passport? If not, then choosing a destination within the U.S. may be the right choice depending on your travel dates.
