I had an interesting experience with United Airlines today. I have a job in Va/DC are for a week in February with a repeat client. It's easier for me to book my flight and have them reimburse me. I use that Airlines CC so regardless or class, I get a free bag.

It was $60 cheaper to fly Basic Economy. My parents wouldn't care but it seems a waste as our dates are solid and I get a free bag and for this flight really don't care where I sit.

Also, Sweet 16 and I are flying Basic Economy to London as on a budget and want to spend money there - not on plane ticket. I think my backpack can fit under the seat so I can test it out with this flight.

Unfortunately even though I found a way to get Basic Economy price, it wouldn't let me do the final pay page as stopped at Economy.

So I called United and asked to have them text me. She was able to book it for me and because she was doing the booking she chose my aisle seats! Normally Basic does seats 24 hr ahead and chooses for you.

Sweet 16 and I are doing a test on "does it matter" if savings are substantial. We don't have to sit together and I will be there to check as soon as eligible to see if we can get aisle seats. Worse case scenario we get middle seats. But we save almost $400 and rather use it for fun things..

So I did learn if trouble booking Basic on site, you can call and advantage is they will get you a seat! Wish I had known before!

I do remember these travel clocks! Now we all use our phones!

Once upon a time, when you were travelling, you always packed your travel alarm clock to make sure you knew the time and you woke up on time. Imagine trying to explain to kids these days that you had to wind up the clock with a key (and be careful not to
overwind because you might damage the spring), manually select the time you wanted the alarm to go off, wind up the alarm and everything was set.
All through the night you could hear the clock ticking away, some had numbers that glowed in the dark so if you woke up you could check the time, and at the chosen time the alarm would sound scaring the living beejesus out of you … but at least you were awake on time!!

These are great to put toothbrushes, personal items, large for documents/itineraries etc.
I use them to throw in carry on purse to keep it organized and in carryon bag as fits in zipper slots to help organize for getting to small items quickly. I like Ezpacking ones but I think these inexpensive ones on Amazon will work too!

Imagine checking in for your flight in the parking lot....just one small airport...but you'd also be paying airport fee rather than discount garage...but for a business man, maybe worth it?

Travelers must first register via a QR code to be found at the airport.

She goes over a lot of travel hacks so I usually fine one I like! Only one I really disagree with is the tying of a ribbon or bandana on suit case to help you identify. Baggage handlers say they can get caught causing your bag to get pulled off plus it slows them down! I still like the inexpensive Amazon stretchy luggage covers as it protects and makes your bag distinctive.

You meet some good people in travel...most likely she bought basic economy ticket (people don't read as they tell you before you buy what it doesn't cover!). Plus when you notify your cc you are traveling put in return dates. Not all cc ask for travel info but make sure they are ok'd to text as you don't always get emails when traveling. Just in case they need to verify it is you!

"WOW okay so the most amazing thing just happened to me and I can’t help but share it with the world. American Airlines instituted a new policy where you have to pay to take a carry-on onto the plane. Which is ridiculous but off topic. I consolidate my bags into one and they measure it and say it’s just a little too big. They proceed to charge me $50, except they only take credit card, no cash. Since I just got back from Europe all my cards are being declined as Chase doesn’t know I’m back. They tell me that I’m going to have to miss the flight and head back to the ticket counter to pay down there. I’m pleading, devastated after a long day of travel. Then, this man walks up and says, “How much is it?” They tell him $50 and he says “I got it.” I’m astonished and tell him it’s fine not to worry and he hands the lady his card as the American Airlines employees stand in silence shocked by this man’s generosity. They swipe the card and he tells me to have a great flight and hop on board. I’m crying as I write this and as I board the flight. This man was an angel. I stop him as he’s sitting in first class and try to give him my money but he just shook me off and told me to pay it forward. My heart is so happy. There are good people in this world. Be that person for someone because I know after this I sure will be." 💕 Update: It was NFL player, Jermaine Gresham.
