Calling Homeschoolers in ATX! Check out https://www.facebook.com/groups/atxfieldtripfridays, now live in the Austin area!!!

This active homeschoolers network started in the DFW area and has has grown to over 11,000 homeschoolers, and it offered almost 150 homeschool field trip opportunities last fall alone. Their field trips include a selection of Delve farm field trips as well as museums, sports, coding ... and many more opportunities. Next public tour at the San Antonio Missions farm is Saturday, March 15! Good time to plan a trip ... ? 🤔

Did you know we have a UNESCO World Heritage site as one of our farms? The farm tour at the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park walks visitors through demonstration gardens of agriculture through history. 🌾

Bonus! Ticket proceeds help the San Antonio Food Bank fight hunger. How cool is that?!🤩

This Veterans Day, we invite you to virtually walk with Veterans engaging in "dirt therapy" here in Texas through Farmers Assisting Returning Military - FARM. Take 10 minutes to watch the video below, hear these human stories, and see how these Veterans are reclaiming wellness and purpose, growing food and community at in Crowley.

We so appreciate the ability of the documentary crew to capture their story in such a powerful way, as well as the work of FARM to connect so many with so much good. 🇺🇸🌱

🍄🍄🍄 Mushrooms, anyone? 🍄🍄🍄

Join us October 17th for an interactive, guided tour of an indoor Mushroom Farm where knowledgeable staff will walk you through the entire process, from spawn to mycelium to fruit.

Participate in steps like cooking spawn, inoculating the substrate, and harvesting fresh mushrooms in the fruiting chambers. Plus, you'll see the in-house liquid mycelium spun into a unique vortex, demonstrating the science behind the mushrooms.

Discover how fungi are being used for groundbreaking environmental solutions, from biofuels to pollution control.

Livestock Guardian Dogs can help save sheep, goats, and other livestock from predators.

Have you seen the Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGDs) around at local farms and ranches? (Maybe even on a tour with Delve) They're cute, they're furry, and they're incredibly effective at keeping livestock safe.

But LGDs weren't always part of the Texas ag scene - they were only introduced in the 1970s and 1980s, and after some initial bumps in the process, they have really revolutionized the keeping livestock here in Texas.

Livestock protection is a serious job for livestock guardian dogs. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension has a program dedicated to helping them.

Good news for growers? USDA has updated its plant hardiness zone map for the first time since 2012.

The USDA is updating an important map for gardeners and growers picking plants and flowers. The new map shows the contiguous U.S. is about 2.5 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the last map 11 years ago.

Fun Fact Friday! Did you know that turkey may not have been present at the very first Thanksgiving? Nor green beans nor potatoes. The culinary history of Thanksgiving has evolved across generations and regions - and it wasn't even a formal holiday until 1863, when declared so by Abraham Lincoln.

Fun Fact Friday! The sweet potatoes on your Thanksgiving table this year are one of Texas's favorite crops. Sweet potatoes originated in the tropical Americas, and heat tolerant and thrive in hot days and warm nights, and they can even survive light frosts. Texas has an ideal climate to produce these tubers, and it's one of the top five producing states, with most grown in Van Zandt County in East Texas.
