Royal Troon will host its tenth Open Championship next week. Returning for the first time since Henrik Stenson hoisted the Claret Jug back in 2016 (beating 2013 victor Phil Mickelson by three strokes), it will undoubtedly be an exciting week on Scotland’s West Coast!

Getting to play an Open venue is always a treat, but it’s even more fun when a recent championship is still fresh in your memory. It’s too late for 2024, but if you act now, some tee times are still available at Royal Troon in 2025. With visitor play limited to three days a week, tee times are disappearing quickly. Here's the coverage schedule for your viewing pleasure!

Today is St. George's Day - England's national day - which naturally has us daydreaming about this year's British Open venue, Royal St. George's Golf Club

The south of England is home to several top-tier courses including Royal St. George's, Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club and Prince's Golf Club. Golf in this region makes for a great addition to a few days in London, or can even be combined with playing golf across the Channel along the French Atlantic coast.

Many of our accommodation partners in the UK have used the quiet time caused by the pandemic to renovate and refresh.

Last week, we got a sneak peak into what the renovated Rusacks St Andrews, located along the 18th fairway of The Old Course, will look like once it reopens its doors this summer.

Below are a few pictures of the updated lobby and guestrooms. The Rusacks will also be adding a destination rooftop restaurant and bar which will feature breath-taking views overlooking the iconic Old Course. A must-visit on your next trip to the Home of Golf!

Want to join Augusta National GC? Terrific! Who doesn’t?
Well, if you were a friend of Bobby Jones back in 1934, you could have gotten in for $350. Even today, the initiation fee is quite reasonable, rumored to be under $50,000. Of course, the Masters Tournament makes tens of millions of dollars each year, so the members don’t have to pay all the club expenses, although they certainly afford it. But, don’t bother calling for a membership application. As they say, “don’t call us, we’ll call you”.

Happy Masters Thursday! Along with Bobby Jones, Augusta National GC was co-designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie, who was a Cambridge trained surgeon, like his Scottish father. His golf architecture resume also includes Cypress Point, Royal Melbourne, Lahinch and Pasatiempo, where he died in 1934, two months before the inaugural Masters Tournament.
Many golf course aficionados consider MacKenzie to be the greatest course architect of all time.
