Rogue Expeditions is a unique Austin-based adventure travel company that creates run-centric vacations around the world. Our itineraries are designed to combine unique, authentic travel experiences with organized, supported daily runs in unforgettable places, and to accommodate all levels. WHERE WE GO

We currently offer trips to Morocco, Kenya, Patagonia, Slovenia & Croatia, Ireland, British Colu

mbia, Nicaragua, South Africa, Baja and Oregon! HOW IT WORKS

We do not focus on races, but rather upon using your own two feet to experience a place. The international trips are expedition-style, traveling to a new destination each day, while the domestic trips feature a home base format with epic runs set up on different area trails each day. Through a method of route design and vehicle support, we are able to cater to all ability levels and enable participants to get up close and personal with the destination, resulting in experiences, connections and memories that last a lifetime.

Yeah, it kind of feels impossible.

A jam packed day visiting the Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar). Starting with a beautiful ferry ride, nearly running around the entire island, a visit to the local museum learning about the recent history of a volcano almost wiping out the island entirely in 1973, more than a few puffin spotting, running amongst the sheep and climbing the local hills! What a day!! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ธ

On Sunday it was time to depart camp, and we did it in spectacular fashion, taking a detour to get up close and personal with glaciers and the multicolored peaks of the Rainbow Range en route to our final lodge.

Once there it was time for a rainy run in the neighborhood, a lap of the Nimpo Lake Mall, much-anticipated hot showers, a very special birthday celebration, a stunner of a sunset and the coziest of lakefront cabin sleeps ๐Ÿ˜ด

Saturday was our full day at camp, and when we say full, we mean FULL!

We started with a hearty camp breakfast, too much coffee and some canoe lessons, then immediately put our new skills (or lack thereof) to the test! A 1-mile paddle took us to our trailhead for a 10km run with a refreshing plunge and crystal clear views of glaciated mountains at the turnaround point. We paddled back to camp for a quick lunch break, then it was time for the real test!

A 5km paddle all the way to the north end of our lake brought us to our next trail, where a 3km hike rewarded us not only with sweeping views of fabled Lonesome Lake, but also a vertigo-inducing look at the tallest single drop waterfall in Canada!

From there, you guessed it - another 5km paddle was required to get us home. We paddled together as the sun began to set, arriving back for another delicious feast, more campfire time and a final night's sleep out in the wild.

Some days are just travel days, but up here it involves a bit more climbing, bushwhacking and scenic flights than the average trip...

On Friday we waved goodbye to the valley (but not before one heck of a vertical "shakeout" run ๐Ÿคฃ) and headed up the Hill towards the Chilcotin Plateau. It was an adventure of a drive (iykyk) capped off with a floatplane ride that dropped us deep in the backcountry at our rustic but comfy camp where Fraser and Justin greeted us with a table full of appetizers and a fire around which to gather. Dinner, s'mores, stories, stars and falling asleep to the sound of the loons commenced ๐Ÿ™Œ

We got you ๐Ÿด

While all levels are welcome for our Run Morocco: Backroads of the Atlas trip, we don't really recommend it for people who prefer to go to the same old places and do the same old things as everyone else.

This one happens again in October, and now is the time to jump aboard!

"If youโ€™ve ever wanted to visit South Africa and youโ€™re a runner, book this trip immediately! This is one of those incredibly special, one-in-lifetime experiences that you will always treasure.

I didnโ€™t know anything about Rogue Expeditions before booking this trip, but Iโ€™m so glad I went for it. They are an incredible team of people who arrange the most inspiring, organized, and stunning experiences. Our guides were so kind and fun to be around, and our group was full of high energy adventure runners of varying paces and levels. The runs are perfectly curated so that everyone can pick a distance in their comfort zone and no one is ever left feeling behind.

This trip has a little bit of everythingโ€” the opportunity to traverse the grandiose mountain ranges (including climbing the iconic Table Mountain), glide through the lush indigenous rainforest, wade through the crystal clear rivers of wine country, skip along the magnificent red rock seaside cliffs, dip your toes in the Indian Ocean, listen to South African popular music while driving in the van, and watch in awe as elephants parade by on safari.

If you visited South Africa on your own, itโ€™s unlikely that you would get to run on some of the trails we experienced. Iโ€™m grateful that Rogue made it possible to see so much of the beautiful Western Cape โ€” South Africa completely stole my heart."

โœจ Trip #150!!!

Weโ€™re small enough that every trip we run still feels like a milestone, but logging the 150th Rogue Expeditions adventure feels particularly surreal and has us sitting here with very real grins plastered on our faces!

This one was spent exploring the northwest of Ireland, an itinerary that was originally dreamt up by former guide & trip designer Seรกn who wanted to share his home trails and get our runners off the beaten track and into some quieter - but no less stunning! - nooks and crannies of the country. Itโ€™s a natural compliment our original Run Ireland: The Classic Route itinerary, giving those who quickly become enamored with Ireland (as in, basically everyone) a great excuse to return for more - and some of our runners from last year did just that this time around!

11 runners both old (as in returning) and new (as in first-timers), Alain and our rockstar local crew - Lorna, Michelle, Geo! - just wrapped up 8 days jammed with runs of all varieties, ocean breezes, lots of sheep, several castles, plenty of music, myths, legends & stories galore, a selection of jaw-dropping clifftops, a smattering of sunshine, lots of belly laughs, stout climbs and stout pints too.

Weโ€™ve said it 149 times before and weโ€™ll say it again - our runners are just the coolest, and we are so grateful to each and every one of you who sign up, show up and create these memories with us again and again.

Until next time ya'll... slรกinte!

A few of our favorite things - Run Morocco: Backroads of the the Atlas edition ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐ŸŒŠ

โ€œThis past April we found a new section of trail along the coast that almost felt too good to be true!ย  We added it to our itinerary on our last trip and after a week of insanely beautiful (and challenging!) runs in the High Atlas mountains there were several participants who proclaimed it the highlight of the week and one particularly well-traveled runner who dubbed it Moroccoโ€™s Cliffs of Moher!โ€

From the High Atlas trails, meandering routes in the foothills, and a coastal run that is nothing short of spectacular our Backroads of the Atlas tour truly hit all the spots! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Join us this October for another round of fun! ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Whew, we were starting to worry that we'd put sunglasses on the packing list for no reason at all!

Run #5 involved a morning boat ride out to รrainn Mhรณr, the largest inhabited island off the coast of Donegal (home to a whopping 500 mostly Irish-speaking residents). A long run, a peek at traditional ways of local life, vertigo-inducing cliff views, bottomless post-run pizza and even a bit of sunshine โ˜€๏ธ ensued!

We spent our fourth of July playing hide-and-seek with some of the tallest sea cliffs in all of Europe!

Rising 600m (that's 2000 ft, y'all) from the ocean below, these walls are THREE times higher than those found at the better (too well?)-known Cliffs of Moher and, especially on a day like today with 50km/h winds (we know you runners can do the conversion on that one), require a significant amount of effort and good humor to truly experience.

Lucky for us, our people are the kind who prefer to earn their (fleeting) views ๐Ÿ’ช
