Our Ohio Adventures
We started our business as a simple winery tour company. We have always been supporters of local products and services - restaurants, produce, art, crafts and decor, but most of all wine! We started taking weekend trips exploring the state seeking out new wineries, mostly for the wine but also for the unique atmospheres and personalities each one has. Rural wineries, urban wineries, big or small, family owned, rustic or commercial - we loved the adventure of finding them all. We’d bring back wines from all points of the state to share with our family and friends along with the stories of the wineries and the people the wines came from. It wasn’t long before the idea came to us - we could buy a small bus and make our passion into a weekend business. And just like that our weekend adventures became business research trips. We began taking notes of parking lot sizes, venue seating capacity, food availability, and more importantly, what expectations the wineries would have of such a business. Eventually we had a good idea of what we wanted to do - we’ve learned so much along the way! - so we took the plunge and bought a small 16 passenger bus and away we went. Not long after our first winery tours we started to get calls asking if we could do tours of local breweries. It seemed like an obvious next-step, so we began to do research on the Ohio craft beer industry and soon we were offering brewery tours.
Later that year we piled our extended family into the bus to go see the Christmas light displays in the area. An hour into the trip we realized how special it was to share such an experience with the people you most care about, and we decided right then and there to offer that experience to our customers. The Christmas Lights Tours have since become one of best selling tours, booking 36 in the 2017 season, the vast majority of which were booked by large families or groups looking for that special experience to share. We even had five generations of one family on the bus one evening!
We started to come up with other ways to utilize the bus. We started a shuttle service from Lorain County to downtown Cleveland for large events like St. Paddy’s Day and the Cavs championship parades. Covered Bridge Tours, Erie Shore Lighthouse Tours, Waterfalls of Ohio Tours, concerts, Cavs, Browns and Indians games, Playhouse Square, day trips to museums and lunch at local eateries, and the wildly popular Ghost Tours in the fall. We started out as weekend winery tour company, but by the end of our first calendar year in business we outgrew our little bus and replaced it with a larger 24 passenger as well as adding a 27 passenger bus that we use for Wedding transportation. We were even voted Best Wedding Transportation on the Cleveland Hotlist 2017 in our first year in the industry.
We could not have imagined the rate of growth we have experienced, but it has been a most exciting and rewarding experience for us. We have met so many wonderful people and visited so many amazing places on this journey, and we look forward to the new possibilities and continued growth to come, but we both remain weekend adventurers at heart.
