❄️ As we settle East Shorewood Cottages in for a long winter’s nap, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our guests for supporting our special place. It’s an honor to be your home during your Door County stay.
🦌We’re excited to share one of our favorite stories from the 2024 season, written by Trudy Erickson:
“But the best rescue was a deer, the morning of July 22 we got a call saying there was a dead fawn on the edge of the highway near the East Shorewood driveway.
Glenn went down there and looked, pulled on the fawns’ ears and legs and there were no signs of life. Later that evening I went to East and found the fawn standing in the driveway! It had scrapes on top his head and eye and seemed to be stunned. I immediately got on my phone to call a rescue group and was told because of the CWD disease that it would be illegal for anyone to transport the fawn.
The next morning it was still there, so I went to Sturgeon to purchase milk replacer and food, while I was gone a guest got on her phone and managed to find a rescue group from Green Bay that came right up and took the fawn. They said it was in shock and may not make it but two weeks later she heard from the group and the fawn was doing great and would soon be joining the rescue herd!”
Thank you to all who helped with the rescue.
Wishing you a wonderful winter!
