The Rushes is a short bike ride away from some great off-premise hiking, including Kangaroo Lake Nature Preserve. ➡️ The trails circle the pond and marsh, have a gorgeous boardwalk that goes along a portion of Kangaroo Lake, and take you into the forest for some soul-refreshing nature therapy 🌳🌿🌲
➡️ The majority of the trails are a crushed limestone, which is easy on the feet and great for strollers too 👩🍼
➡️ Open year round, they are also groomed for X-country skiing 🎿
The Roofing of the Goat’s Festival and Parade is finally here! If you haven’t been to this uniquely Door County festival, it’s a true treat. Watch the goats and other floats on parade starting at 11 am sharp in downtown Sister Bay, then join in the festivities at Stabbur Beer Garden next door to Al Johnson’s where the goats do indeed top the grass-covered roof. It’s fun for all with live music, kid’s games, various beverages, great food, and a Swedish Pancake Eating contest. And if you happen to own a goat - you’re invited to participate in the parade!

Get your blood pumping with Ray and Alicia's Rushes Survivor Style Olympics down by the lake every Monday! Visit our Welcome Center during your stay to sign up and for more information. Participants can expect to get wet, do some running, and have fun during this competitive obstacle course.
Cave Point County Park is just 20 minutes from the Rushes and very worth the visit. The waves crashing against the shoreline can be felt in the ground under your feet! Just watch for that cold Lake Michigan water splashing up over the edges.
