So last 2 days in Europe. Got to explore more of Budapest. We disembarked off of the AmaSonata 7 day river cruise (You were amazing) and moved over to the newer Mystery Hotel Budapest. Hotel was a former Masonic Temple converted to a beautiful hotel in 2019. Beautiful rooms, a great spa, nice restaurants with my always favorite European breakfasts.
We went out to discover more of the city. Hotel had close proximity to the train station and metro. Had some amazing meals and got to see some great sites around town.
It was blazing hot when we were here around 95-99 and about 50% humidity.
One thing I will tell folks, Europeans don’t use ice that often and AC is very subjective compared to American standards when going out and about.

We did spend one day at the Széchy Thermal Spa. A lot of locals and visitors alike visit this place. They have about 17 different pools and temps and saunas and steam rooms for days.

Felt very safe on our whole trip and glad to relax. Can’t wait for the next adventure.

Today the ship entered The capitol of Slovakia, Bratislava. Also called the Coronation City. Charming town along the Danube as we then headed onto Budapest. Some photos around town and some photos of the canal lock system along the Danube River.

Today was two stops and an overnight in beautiful Vienna, Austria. We did a couple hour stop in the town of Dürnstein, Austria and visited some great little villages known for great wines and apricots, think of it as the Napa Valley of Bavaria. We later visited the amazing Melk Abby and then onto Vienna for an overnight visit. Many stores are closed on Sundays in Vienna so crowds were light.
That evening we got to see the Vienna Residence Orchestra for an incredible performance that everyone was raving about. Some nice extras were provided to my group including a private wine and chocolate tasting at an Abby in Vienna and a private ship bridge tour with the captain.
More picture for all to enjoy.

Today Linz, Mondsee, and Salzburg Austria.
Linz is an charming modern industrial city on the Danube, where we got the privilege of doing a late night departure and got to hang out with the locals enjoys some Soccer matches on a large screen near our ship. During the day did a tour to the Areas of Mozarts Birthplace and The Sound of Music filming sites. Of course the food. Took the funicular train up the mountain to the Salzburg Fortress for an amazing lunch and views of the valley and getting see amazing views of the Alps and eating some traditional Bavarian Dishes. The dessert is called Salzburg Nockerl and is a wonderful lite Soufflé that was amazing way to finished off the meal.
Various photos of filming locations from Sound of Music.
Came back to the ship for a relaxing afternoon at the pool and went out and played with the locals.
Having a great time. Have a lot of jealous passengers from other ships next to ours that don’t have a relaxing pool on their ship.

Several folks have asked about the rooms. I took some photos of a room set up with 2 beds and our room. Originally started off in a window room and upgraded to a balcony room. Room size is slight larger than your average ocean cruise for an entry level room and the upgrade put us at about 235sq ft. The first room was decent size but, for 6’3” me bathroom was a little smaller so the upgrade was great. Beds are very comfy and shower is great with rainfall shower head.

Sailing on a river cruise is smooth compared with ocean cruising. You will spend little time in your room so something to consider.

Since I am a flyer I found a little airport across from where our cruise was sailing out in Vilshofen. I asked for an Iced Coffee and we got the Ice Cream Shake pictures in the photos. Iced Cafe has a different meaning in Germany.

We then stopped in the picturesque town of Passau Germany where the Danube, Inn, and Insk Rivers meet.

Town was quaint and charming. Food and entertainment on board is great.

A river cruise compared to Ocean Cruising also gives you numerous choices for daily tours and excursions that are included compared to other options.

Today we travelled from Prague to deeper into the Bohemian region of Cresky Kromlav in Czech Republic on the way our AmaWaterways River cruise. At CK we enjoyed a castle tour and amazing lunch with a plethora of amazing fire cooked meat dishes and sides that was out of this world.
We started and stayed the night in Vilshofen and celebrated with the crew and locals in a mini Okotoberfest. I was recruited to compete in a Beer Mug holding contest and enjoyed a great Bavarian meal and Beers before sailing off down the Danube River.

Day 2 in Prague
Started the Day in the Old Town Area and watched the Astronmical Clock, built in the 1500s, visited the Jewish Quarter of town, then headed over to the Halevska Market and tired a Czech Susage and later a Tunnel Ice Cream cone , spelled Trdelník, that is like an amazing ice cream wrapped in something like a churro, wow. Later enjoyed the great pool and spas of our hotel and finished the day off at Zvonice in this amazing tower built about 600 yrs ago with some incredible Czech cuisine.
