Now open at the Maryland Center for History and Culture, the exhibition "Existence Beyond Code" is a visual exploration of identity, visibility, and existence in the digital age, focusing on the experiences of Black communities.

"Existence Beyond Code" uses digital portraiture to highlight how algorithmic settings and biases in AI tools can influence representation and challenge our understanding of identity. Presented in community with the The Chicory Project, this exhibition is curated by Devlon Waddell and features the work of artist Kevin Johnson, Jr.

After a bunch of research, I decided to fake it with ice powder. It’s a product that mixes with water and turns into a clumpy gel that looks just like real ice.” “While the snowballs are fake, the marshmallow is very real.
