We are moved and overwhelmed by the outpouring of concern and support. It took a while but we can now report our staff and family are safe. The 103 year old Old Hampton Store building sustained relatively minor damage from flood waters entering the main level for the first time in history, far exceeding the Flood of 1940.

We are heartbroken for our county, WNC, and all affected by Hurricane Helene; the grief is beyond words as reality sets in and the scope of this disaster becomes evident. Thank you to all those who have worked and are working to assist the rescue and relief effort.

We greatly appreciate the many offers of support but we can and intend to make a full recovery. Many others nearby suffered tragic and irrecoverable losses. Due to our infrastructural damages, we are not currently able to operate and assist the way we wish we could.

Roads in and out of Banner Elk are closed for repairs. This includes Hickory Nut Gap, 194, and Tynecastle.

SHARE: BE Resource Center opening Thurs Oct 3 in Historic School (enter in back). Pickup food, water, household items, diapers, pet food and much more, 10am-4pm everyday. Drop off donations too. Please, try to group donations to reduce cars in area. NEEDED: Volunteers to stock and serve. SPECIAL NEEDS: totes, shopping bags, adult diapers, air mattresses, towels, blankets, lanterns, batteries, activity books for kids, sterile gloves, underwear, t-shirts. We are also delivering truckloads from the Resource Center to remote areas and nearby towns. Such generous folks out there. THANK YOU!!!

**WESTERN NC RELIEF DROP-OFF AT MOTORS AMERICA**
**PLEASE HELP US HELP THOSE WHO ARE IN DIRE NEED**
Beginning today at 3pm, Motors America will begin accepting donations for our friends and families in Western NC. We have a 48' semi truck being delivered, so please feel free to bring items listed on the picture. Once the truck is full, we'll be delivering it to VanDrake Land Clearing & Development at the Statesville airport, and they will handle the logistics of getting the supplies to the folks in need. We'll then bring it back to Motors America, and continue filling it as long as you all continue to bring us items!
