If you love to snow tube and zipline we are only 13 miles from Hawksnest Snow Tubing and Zipline which is the longest snow tubing run on the East Coast. Grandfather Mountain State Park only 15 miles away is full of attractions from walking and hiking, Wildlife Habitats, Nature Museum, Mile High Swinging Bridge and tons more activities just waiting for you to explore! The options are endless! So close to EVERYTHING, yet far enough away to enjoy the serenity of your surroundings. If you are looking for a spectacular view, take a 5-10 minute drive to the top of Beech Mountain where you will be able to see miles. While you are there you can grab a trail map showing you the hundreds of trails from easy-moderate-hard. We will also provide you with everything you need to know right in the cottage to enjoy your time here. Summer time at the Cottage is nothing short of amazing just like the Winter! Easy access to all local outposts to enjoy a day trip rafting, rappelling, kayaking or river tubing. There are many festivals and concerts in the summertime along with visits to Banner Elk Winery, Grandfather Mountain Vineyard, blueberry fields, horseback riding, and SO MUCH MORE! When you arrive at the Cottage, the first thing you will notice is the wonderful stone walls and hard wood flooring. The living room area is beautifully decorated and the gas fireplace is the perfect accessory for those cold nights. The first floor features a living room with a couch, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom, and washer and dryer. The second floor has two very spacious bedrooms with a large closet and 2 queen beds, and 1 full bed. There is plenty of room for a crib, pack n play or small pet crate. The second bedroom leads out to a balcony where you will find a six person hot tub to relax those muscles after a long day of hiking, skiing, exploring. Our Cottage is heated in the winter months by a roaring fireplace that generates enough heat for the entire property regardless of how low the temperatures drop. Always remember heat rises, so the upstairs may be warmer than downstairs and you may have to adjust for your comfort. There is no central AC, but there are ceiling fans and cooling towers, as well as an HVAC system in the bedroom attached to the outdoor deck (this unit has both AC and heat). Banner Elk average temperatures in winter months are in the 20's and 70's in the summer months. We also have a brand new fire pit outside for your enjoyment in the evening time, roasting marshmallows, s’mores or just sitting by the fire with a glass of wine. Tall Timbers Cottage is located just minutes from the Banner Elk downtown, 30 minutes from Boone and home of the Appalachian State University, making it easy to enjoy the dining and shopping choices in the local areas.
