Hurricane Helene update….. we have been pleasantly surprised and shocked at the outpouring of concern for our property, and our town of Banner Elk, and the surrounding area. I guess we didn’t realize how many of you have stayed here over the years, and reflect fondly over your time here. This truly means a lot to us!!
First, let me say that we are very fortunate. Our house had no damage. Basically, just a big mess. We added some pictures to show.
Eagles Nest itself has a substantial number of trees down, but we just spent a few days there, and were shocked at how fast the cleanup/restoration process is going. Banner Elk and nearby towns were not as lucky. There is/was significant flood damage. Many locals need a great deal of help. If anyone is so inclined to donate, I would recommend Samaritans Purse in Boone. They know the most effective way to get funds to those who need it most.
To focus on something positive, the larger towns of Boone and Blowing Rock are relatively unscathed. They are open and want your business.
Beech Mountain Ski resort plans a full opening on November 29th.
As the area begins to heal and re-open, we will provide updates here. We fully anticipate a very fun winter season, and for sure, the locals will need help from visitors and tourists coming to support the local economy.
The holidays are currently booked, but there is plenty of availability for peak-ski season in January, February, and March. Come visit our beautiful home and one of the most beautiful places in the USA 🇺🇸
