Acadia Bike will open Memorial Day weekend for bike rentals Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24. We'll reopen for the season Monday, June 1, for bike rentals and June 15 for kayaking tours. To ensure the most enjoyable and safest experience, we will take additional disinfecting and sanitizing measures with all our equipment and will practice safe distancing. Unless you are a lobster fisherman there is a pretty good chance that you have never seen a "berried" lobster or a female lobster with her eggs. This is a great example of an egg bearing lobster; she also has a v-notch on her tail. The v-notch signifies that she had previously been caught and she had eggs visible. This notch lets other harvesters know that she is illegal to posses and that she is a known breeder. The law was put forth so that female lobsters can continue to reproduce and still allow for some female lobsters to be harvested; if she is legal size, has no eggs, and no v-notch/mutilation on the right flipper next to the middle flipper on her tail (looking from the top of the lobster when the lobster is right-side up -- opposite of shown in photo).
