Our Story
My Old Kentucky Dinner Train is more than fine dining on the rail. It is a nostalgic trip back in time. Before President Eisenhower's "Interstate Highway System" and the construction of the interstate network, most Americans used the railroad to travel long distances. For such long train rides, it became a necessity for railroads to offer dining service. While restaurants could be frequented during planned layovers, the dining car became the in-transit standard for meal service. The dining cars were known for their luxury and high quality cuisine, ideals My Old Kentucky Dinner Train continues to this day.
We offer lunch, dinner, as well as a variety of specialty runs such as our Murder Mystery excursions, Bourbon tastings, and the North Pole Express.
My Old Kentucky Dinner Train features two beautifully restored 1940's vintage dining cars, which are pulled by two 1950's F-unit locomotives.
During your excursion through the beautiful Kentucky countryside you will be served a delicious meal prepared while in route, by our executive chef in our kitchen car.
The traditional tables of four are perfect for conversation yet cozy enough for privacy.
My Old Kentucky Dinner Train operates year-round on varied schedules. Visit kydinnertrain.com to view our calendar and menu options.
