One of our favorite things to do in Key West was wandering the streets and taking in the historic and charming houses around every corner.

There are so many lovely homes with large sweeping porches and flowers. There is a lot to see in the keys but this was by far my favorite.

🌺 Breakfast Bliss 🍳☕️

Aloha from the Coffee Shack in Captain Cook, HI! My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful start to the day with breakfast in this incredible location. 🌅

🍽️ The special of the day? Scrumptious hash browns, topped with savory ham, two eggs, and a velvety hollandaise sauce. This was served with a piece of their toasted homemade bread. We both ordered this and my eggs were done to perfection. We loved our meal.

☕️ And let’s not forget about the coffee - oh, the coffee! It was aromatic and brewed to perfection.

🌴 The view from our table and this restaurant is nothing short of spectacular. We didn’t order any dessert but the pies looked amazing! It’s a family owned open-air spot with a lanai that provides a spectacular view of Kealakekua Bay.

Protip: You may have to wait but the wait is worth it! And, the line went much faster than expected.

The combination of delicious food and breathtaking ocean views at the Coffee Shack on the ‘Big Island’ is simply unparalleled. If you ever find yourself on the “Big Island”, the Coffee Shack is a must-visit. 🌊

👣 Ranger Kelkiyana Yazzie.

🏆 Ranger Kelkiyana Yazzie recently won the 2022 Interpretation and Resource Education (IRE) Staff Person of the Year Award & is a champion for elevating Indigenous voices at Grand Canyon.

👉 "It's integral that our tribal communities - our people, our heritage, our history, are all authentically and respectfully represented in a federal agency and on native lands where our voices have been nearly non-existent since the creation of the National Park Service. I'm thankful for all the support along the way from my colleagues, friends, and relatives to help elevate Indigenous narratives at Grand Canyon. I hope more acknowledgement and appreciation for Indigenous peoples' lived experiences and ancestral ties to our living landscape continues everywhere."

🤠 Kelkiyana Yazzie began working at Grand Canyon National Park in September 2021 as a transfer student employee from Navajo National Monument. At that point, she was earning a Master of Science degree through Northern Arizona University’s online Parks and Recreation Management (PRM) program within the Department of Geography, Planning, and Recreation.

👉 In February 2022, she was officially named a permanent Grand Canyon National Park Ranger. Kelkiyana has served as a mentor to many employees, interns, and volunteers across the National Park Service (NPS), developing programs for the public and for park staff focused on Indigenous connections and traditional knowledge of the canyon.

😃 Ranger Yazzie serves as an inspiration for equity and inclusion within the National Park Service and she serves as a leader for education and interpretation at Grand Canyon. She is also the fourth generation of her family to work as an NPS employee.

💪 Kelkiyana has served as a mentor to many employees, interns, and volunteers over the last year. Kelkiyana also developed programs for the public and for park staff focused on Indigenous connections and traditional knowledge of the canyon.

The Hilton Garden Inn at Miramar Beach is a lovely modern hotel. While it is not right on the beach. It is very close. The hotel offers a free shuttle 10-4 but it’s just a six minute walk. The lobby is particularly lovely, bright, and open. And, they offered a really awesome breakfast. I was able to order the power bowl which was a fun “healthy” option. It is also just a half a mile from a fun beachfront restaurant called the Surf Hut. I had the trio tacos 🌮 and we had a really great service.

We arrived late this evening in New York- it’s a rainy night- we walked many streets close to our hotel. We can see the Empire State Building from our hotel window! Bryant park is close by and very lovely. We had a slice of pizza at Luv Pizza- yummy!
