The ganodermataceae family is a large family of fungi, first circumscribed in 1948 by Marinus Anton Donk. Members of this family can be found worldwide, but are most extensively found in tropical climates where they typically grow parasitically on wood. Fungi in this family have a thick and tough texture. Found in Yulan! 🌸🌸🌸

My favorite little corner in the northwest direction. The sun rises here, the mornings in this corner are slow and soft and sweet, we listen to our Hawaiian record, one of our favorite ones, very often here— I also enjoy wiping and dusting the art nouveau glass coaster that rests on this table, then perusing our records, and laughing at the “Christmas Story” bobble leg every time I clean…

I love looking through this window which faces south every time I enter this side room. There’s something soft about this space that I don’t get anywhere else in our home— maybe it’s that it’s in the corner, tucked away from the liveliness of the living room, maybe it’s the view of the ferns rustling in the soft, fall breeze… maybe it’s just me and I’m sentimental and at every turn I’m reminded of something beautiful and magical… lol 😂

We love music. My husband and I met on the dance floor, and it’s still one of our favorite places to be. We haven’t gone out in ages due to all our obligations, but it will forever hold a very special place in our hearts. We have a few records here for you to peruse, some classics (The Rolling Stones) some obscure (I can’t even think of any right now lol) and others just downright fun (Traditional music from the Gold Coast and Hawaii)… Music heals and brings people together. Autumn is creeping in…. On our walk up the hill today, we saw a few red leaves… 😳spent the remainder of the day pulling out these pesky Japanese stiltgrass! Had no idea how insidious they are, how quickly they take over. The ferns are much happier now, and I was able to get my hands dirty and work with Mother Earth— the mother whose bosom we are never weaned from. 🙏❤️👩‍👧🌎

Happy October 11th on this quiet fall morning. I’m finally back up here to help my husband clean for our next guests! I haven’t been able to help as much as I finally went back to work in the building and can’t take as many excursions as I used to! The leaves here are at midpoint which means we should hit the peak in a few weeks. The land looks absolutely gorgeous as it transitions into slumber for the winter. I am somehow more in awe than I ever have been as I continue to look for beauty in everything and in all my relations. We’re obsessed with the local radio station up here! So fun to clean to! I especially love their 80s hour(s). Some backstory about this beauty: We scored this classic Zenith radio at auctionninja.com, one of our favorite websites to place bids on unique and one-of-a-kind objects and pieces of furniture. Sometimes the old electronics don’t work (like this one), so we had to scout out a local electronic master (in Brooklyn) who sits in the back of his dark studio and spends weeks, if not months, fixing these ancient pieces. This one pretty much had to be rebuilt entirely, including the tubes that need to warm up before anything of interest happens. I still completely forget that this radio needs to do that and when the music doesn’t come on immediately, I think it’s broken. Side effect of living in an era of instant gratification!
