Sponsored by Phillips Petroleum, the Woolaroc, a Travel Air 5000 monoplane, competed in the daring flight from Oakland to Honolulu. Despite taking off later than others, pilots Arthur C. Goebel and William V. Davis soared to victory, completing the journey in 26 hours and 15 minutes—beating the second-place finisher by two hours!
