We are The Bartlett Village House ๐ก A former historic B&B now catering to Private Groups & Retreats
Location, Location, Location!
Centrally located in the village of Bartlett, New Hampshire, nestled in the heart of the
790,000-acre White Mountain National Forest and in close proximity to nearby North Conway, Jackson and the Crawford Notch, Year-round outdoor adventure is right outside our doors...
Our Space:
The Bartlett Village House is a beautiful 7 guest room, 3.5 bathroom private home
that sleeps a maximum of 14 guests. The Bartlett Village House offers a unique getaway complete with New England Charm. Beautifully decorated in antiques and original decor with just the right amount of modern updates...your group will never want to leave!
The History:
Built in 1890, this house began as a private residence. By 1918 it operated as an Inn/Restaurant run by Gertrude Thompson whose husband worked as a foreman on the railroad. In 1945 it was purchased by Sanford Hill who
renamed it the Chippanock Inn (bright north star). He continued to operate it as an Inn until his death in the early 1990โS. The Inn was extremely popular with repeat guests from the Boston area coming up by train to stay and ski. Many guests would request to rent the entire Inn including the Main house and the Carriage house.
When you visit our house, you will have the opportunity to read the old hand written reservation requests from guests between the 1940โs-1960โs and the handwritten replies from the inn keeper confirming their stay. We think it is quite special!
The Inn sat empty for several years before it was purchased by Jerry & De Snyder of Londonderry NH in 2002 who used it as their second home.
And now:
In January, 2021, along came Jana and Mark who have revitalized and breathed new life into what was formerly the Chippanock Inn, now known as The Bartlett Village House. We now rent the property to large groups & families in all 4 s
