Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the tragic events of September 11th, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation. As we pause to reflect on this somber day, we honor the memory of those who lost their lives, the courage of first responders, and the resilience of survivors.
The unity and strength that emerged in the face of such unimaginable loss serve as a lasting reminder of the spirit of this country. While the wounds of that day may never fully heal, we are bound by a shared determination to carry forward the legacy of those who were taken too soon.
Let us take this time to not only remember but to recommit ourselves to the values of kindness, empathy, and unity that uplift our communities and strengthen our nation.
I remember well being in this office on that fateful morning, and so grateful my family was safe, but so devastated as we heard the news unfold, and the names of neighbors and friends who were taken by the angels. God Bless this country.

Todays TRAVEL TRIVIA
A baleen whale stranded itself on the shore near the South Iceland town of Þorlákshöfn yesterday, prompting quick action from rescue workers and police.

The whale was discovered on the beach around midday. Initially, its size led people to believe it was a minke whale. While the exact species remains unidentified, it is confirmed to belong to the baleen whale family and is most likely a calf.

Despite being a calf, the whale was still enormous, making it impossible for bystanders to push it back into the water. While waiting for assistance, the whale was covered with large water-soaked sheets to keep it safe.

Rescue workers soon arrived with a boat and successfully dragged the whale back into the sea, where it swam away to safety.

Whale beachings in Iceland are uncommon but not unheard of, and they have played a role in Icelandic culture for centuries. The Icelandic word for "windfall," for instance, is "hvalreki," which literally means "a beached whale," a reference to the time when finding a whale ashore meant a sudden and abundant source of food.

Dog surfing contest in San Francisco in August - you thought you'd seen it all!
What to know: You’ve surely seen videos on social media of dogs hanging 10, but you can see some seriously talented pups shredding waves with and without their humans at the annual World Dog Surfing Championships. Held on Linda Mar Beach, about 20 minutes from downtown San Francisco, it attracts all the paddling pros, from pit bulls to pugs in the competitive dog surfing world (yes, such a thing exists!). Among the previous winners are an Australian Kelpie, Abbie Girl; a Spaniel named Sampson; and Cherie, a French bulldog.

Tip: Watching from the beach is free, as is entry into the dog costume contest; the frisbee and fetch competitions have an $15 admission fee, and there's a "yappy hour" to cap the day. For easy access to the all-day event, stay at the pet-friendly Fairfield by Marriott San Fran-Pacifico nearby.

A visually impaired woman preparing to skydive for charity expressed that she feels both "nervous but excited" about the jump and anticipates her guide dog will share her excitement. Louann Kent is undertaking the tandem skydive to raise funds for Guide Dogs, the organization that matched her with Ugo, her golden retriever, in 2017.

Kent, who hails from Derby, UK, credits Ugo with transforming her life and giving her the independence to perform various activities. Although Ugo will not join her in the skydive on Saturday, he will eagerly await her arrival on the ground.

AIRLINE headlines: Judge allows lawsuit brought against American Airlines. The ESG, pension investments, where Blackrock supposedly ignored financial returns which was the exclusive purpose, as this is for the retirement fund. Poor performing investments were favored to the detriment of the employees. American Airlines recently relieved their chief commercial officer of his job because "we've dug ourselves into a hole". The policy created by this officer to deny Advantage Mileage Club members of accruing miles if tickets booked through a travel agency has been withdrawn. American Airlines has been going woke for years, and they keep tripping over themselves as it plays out.
