Our Story.....
The home was purchased in December 2018 and we had hoped to host our first guests in time for ski season 2020 - 2021. While completing a whole home renovation we ran into many challenges, the worst being a global pandemic that halted construction for more than 11 months. The cabin has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and will sleep six, including a sleeper sofa in the living area. The ca
bin overlooks beautiful Stoney Creek which meanders through the property at the base of the mountain. We have planned a rustic cabin vibe for the interior with just a touch of Texas which is where the owners are from. Our goal will be to provide premier accommodations for the Bryce Resort which is just a short walk from the cabin. Construction finished up in early April 2021 and we hosted our first guests on Saturday April 17th. We are very proud of our accomplishment and we look forward to hosting many of you in the months to come. We will continue to post stories and updates on the adventures of Creekside Cabin at Bryce Resort.

So I’m standing in the deck at Creekside Cabin at Bryce Resort… I’m supposed to be painting, but instead I’m lost in the beauty of the setting sun over Great North Mountain as it sparkles on the creek… We’ve had quite a a bit of rain, so the creek is high and I can hear the babbling water…. This place is just so beautiful! Had a little visitor while I watched the sunset…

The projects continue here at Creekside Cabin at Bryce Resort. Fascia boards are wrapped, gutters have been installed, and gutter guards went on today. I don't have any photos of this yet, but the basement is progressing. Here are a few pictures of that space. It's a very small space with a spiral staircase in the middle.... So it's a little difficult to photograph.

Well at 4:00 PM they finished up and Creekside Cabin has a beautiful new roof! A huge shout out to Larry Davis of Skyline Roofing and Exteriors for making sure all of the details were taken care of and helping me through this process! I would highly recommend this family owned business for your roofing needs at Bryce!

This may be the last update before we're finished! It's now 2:00PM and I believe we're in the home stretch. Still one side of the 8 left. I think we are waiting on a material delivery, just a guess, but that one side remains.

It's 12:45 PM on the mountain and the roof is on it's way. 4 of the 8 sides have shingles already and the crew is hard at work. Thankful for a sunny, but cooler day here in Basye, Virginia!

Roof update! By 10:30 AM the roof was, "Naked" and replacement of the rotted plywood had begun. They are moving quickly and they say we'll have a new roof by the end of the day! It's been a very productive morning...

Well here at Creekside Cabin we were up early because the NEW ROOF starts today! A team of professionals started the removal at 7AM! As they dug in they found a second layer of shingles hiding under the top layer which will take a bit more time and work to remove, but the contractor says this is a one day job! Right now it sounds like Tyrannosaurus Rex is walking around on the roof and slowly chewing through....

Bryce Mountain is filled with wildlife and nature's beauty. Often your interaction with creatures of nature bring a sense of peace and tranquility to Creekside Cabin. We watch birds of all types singing and soaring through the trees and almost every evening down by the creek you will see families of deer eating and drinking. So here’s a recent update to the progress at Creekside Cabin. The pandemic halted work for over 6 months, but were back on the job and hopefully finishing up soon!
