MidLife Studio

MidLife Studio MidLife Studio creatively refurbishes, repurposes and upcycles items to give them new life and new p We had what we needed and were thankful for the extras.

For years (50 to be exact), I have explored many different ways to earn an income - each leaving me not quite fulfilled. So, at my MidLife, I made the decision to follow my heart and pursue a passion. I was blessed with parents who insisted that my four siblings and I learned at least the basics to become self-sufficient. This meant that all five of us could use power tools, fix the toilet, hem pa

nts and cook dinner - regardless of gender! My parents were also creative and supported me in my artistic endeavors. Although I did not realize it at the time, we were not rich growing up. We did not, however, take things for granted or believe that things were disposable just because they were "old". Now, I am using my life experience to refurbish, repurpose, up-cycle and create. I see the beauty in furniture that has long passed its prime and would rather use an item in an unexpected way to make it useful again than allow it to become land-fill. MidLife is not just about people.

Still available. Price reduced to $375.00.

Many years ago, I started refinishing or restoring furniture because I found the craftsmanship and quality of vintage or antique furniture could not be beat. Now, in staying with my roots, I have completely restored this antique marquetry occasional table with serpentine cabriole legs and carved skirt which is estimated to have been made in the early 1900s. To explain the term completely, let me just say that after having paid for this little beauty at a yard sale, I attempted to pick it up and carry it away....unfortunately, it crumbled into multiple pieces. No, I did not accept nor ask for my money back, I just gathered up the pieces and decided to put it away as a future project. This beauty has now been re-glued, stripped and refinished. The marquetry top was simply stripped and then sealed with polyurethane to maintain the original colors of the design. The legs and skirt were stained with Minwax Red Oak and sealed with polyurethane.
This table measures 27" H x 19 5/8" W x 17 7/8 D" and is available for $425.00.

Still available. Price reduced to $350.00.

Now that the temperatures are dropping along with the first of the season's leaves, many are beginning to think about Thanksgiving and family gatherings. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a buffet in your dining room that is not only beautiful, but also a wonderful solution to your storage and serving needs? This Van Sciver, Camden (circa 1920) buffet has been returned as close to its original beauty as possible. It has been stripped of all of the paint, stains, etc.; stained in a deep but vibrant brown (Minwax Jacobean) and sealed with polyacrylic. There are two drawers with interior measurements are 16 1/2" x 30 1/2" and 9 7/16" deep. The original flatware tray, which can slide from side to side in the drawer has four sections that are 3 9/16" x 15". The overall measurements on this buffet are 34 3/8" H x 71 7/8" W x 19 7/8" D.
$395.00 (Local delivery available for additional fee).

SOLD. Price reduced to $90.00.

Many years ago, all young women wanted a hope chest to store items collected for their future lives. This tradition has slipped away but, if we are honest with ourselves, we all have treasures that we would like to keep for our future. This small solid cedar chest measures 32 1/4" w x 15" D x 12 1/2" H and could very well be used as a toy chest and then transform into the hope chest for a young women who looks to the future. After removing the old finish, a quote was added using red mahogany stain and a bit of metallic accent. Although I am usually a purist when it comes to cedar, and would not seal in this beautiful wood, I made an exception on this chest and gave it a polyacrylic finish to protect the quote on top and make it more durable to "grow up" with its owner. Treasure chest is a steal at $110.

SOLD. Price reduced to $349.00.

HERE IT IS!!!! Making its debut.....This dresser is solid wood, has tremendous lines and 6 drawers. It was completely stripped of its curling veneer and great attention paid to absolutely every detail. The inside of the drawers were painted with Behr flat white. The dresser was painted in Pure Earth Slate. The cabinet was then glazed using Pure Earth Black to show off the grain and the detail on the textured wallpaper side panels. Each of the drawers was given a Pure Earth Translucent Silver coat for that perfect shimmer. The entire dresser was then coated in Rustoleum Matte Finish water-based poly-acrylic. All dove-tail drawers open and close easily. New black nickel hardware has been added and the key-hole hardware has even been sprayed to match.

Dimensions: 48" W x 35 1/4" H x 24" D (24 1/4" D at the curve of the foot).

Add this piece to your home for $399. Local delivery is available for an additional fee.
If interested, please PM me as the item is cross-posted.

***SOLD*** Since I was already cutting a plethora of vintage and not so vintage beer cans, what a better idea than to turn this 1/2 Yeungling keg into a smaller version of the barrel table recently completed and sold. This table is currently for sale at $95 in our spot at the Antique Marketplace in Hammonton, New Jersey.

This piece was completed for a custom order. True to me and my desire to re-use, recycle and recreate, this pub height table was created using an old barrel, the legs from my sister's last dining room chairs, a bit of plywood and beer cans - lots & lots of beer cans. Just in case you are jealous with envy that someone else owns this unique table, check out the next post which is available for sale!!!

Now, if you truly must have a barrel/beer can table, don't forget that custom orders are always welcome. Please keep in mind, however, that there were only so many of the legs used on this one and so a new design idea would be used to create your one-of-a-kind table. Just give us a call!

***SOLD*** So I decided to get a couple of smaller projects done and clear a little space in my garage. Check out this repurposed crate which now sports wheels and a shelf and would make a very cool addition as an end table, night stand or small table on your patio. Leaving as much of the character and patina as possible, i sanded the rough spots and gave it a nice coat of matte polyurethane. The item is located in our space at the Antique Marketplace in Hammonton and can be yours for $30.

A few years ago, when my best friend's father passed away, she gave me a rocking chair from his home. Now her son is heading off to college in Florida and I was thrilled to be able to update the rocker as a gift to him.

Just in case you didn't know it, a sewing machine is also one of the tools in my collection!
