We’re still in Oklahoma for day 2 of their Steam & Gas Engine Show and Paul found his favorite, the Ford tractor! These last photos are demonstrating how these machines cut were used to cut shingles and then also to crush rocks! Pretty advanced technology for its time!

Paul and I traveled down to Pawnee, Oklahoma to visit the Steam & Gas Engine Show happening! Yes even in the rain we showed up and were able to see some of the great engines on display and the parade that just took place a bit ago! It was a lovely spring day for this little slice of heaven!

Yesterday we visited Mont Saint-Michel, a commune of the coast of France. The Abby has so much lore surrounding it that it dates back to around or before the year 700. One story goes that Archangel Michael appeared to the Bishop of Avranches and told him to build a church on the rocky islet… another says a vast forest once surrounded the Abby but that a great wave struck and the only thing that remained was the Abby and its surrounding walls! Either way it was a sight to behold in person

Today we visited Utah Beach and Pointe de Hoc in France that was a pivotal part of the D-Day invasion during WWII. This whole area is now a memorial to that day, as you can see one of these photos has grassy areas that cover the holes where bombs were dropped trying to take out the strong hold in Pointe de Hoc

We added a boat tour on the Senie River this afternoon to see the Eiffel Tower from a different angle and then a smaller model of the Statue of Liberty, similar to the one gifted to the US from France in 1885. Today we visited the Eiffel Tower, which was incredible, and then through an underground tunnel we were able to access to the Arc de Triomphe. Which was completed in 1836. There was also a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier that commemorates all soldiers who have died for France during its long history. This country is full of history and so much beauty.

We took a tour of Versailles today and it was incredible. This was an amazing view in the long hall with its mirrors reflecting the beauty that is on the outside of this castle-simply a breathtaking experience for sure!! Not to mention how advanced this project was during its time, moving the water from the rivers near by to help create many of the waterways and fountains on the grounds was almost pure magic during its early days.

We’re traveling again and this time we’re in beautiful Paris France! The Cathedral of Notre Dame is still closed until 2025, but it’s amazing to see the work happening to preserve this treasure. More photos to come on our trip!
