Hi! Here we are, a few weeks already in the new year! I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself to my followers here. My name is Nancy. I work as a community college dean in Texas and also as a travel advisor with Never Look Back Vacations. While travel and education are passions of mine, I also like antiques, cats, reading, exploring new places to eat, and spending time with family and friends.

As a traveler, I like staying in historic hotels or bed and breakfast inns, taking the backroads, and going somewhere new. At the same time, I also like plane and train rides, river cruises, Disney resorts, and I sure don’t mind multiple visits to Walt Disney World or Disneyland in a year.

As your travel advisor, my services are free and timely. I can help with your Disney vacations, hotel stays for pleasure or business, train trips, and river cruises. Please share my page and email with your friends and family. I hope we can connect this year to make your travel goals a reality.

January 9-10, 2025: snow days = work from home days!

2025 is here! I’m hopping on the “my word of the year” bandwagon and have chosen READINESS! The dictionary defines readiness as, “a state of preparation and prompt willingness.” My goal this year is to have a greater sense of readiness when it comes to several areas of my life:
✅ My life of faith. Am I ready day in and day out to be the Christian example I should be to friends, family, and strangers?
✅ My professional life at the college. Am I ready to be adaptable to change, praise when it is timely and be critical and forthcoming at other times, and ready and willing to be patient and wait for things to evolve?
✅ My travel advisor life. Am I ready and prepared to the best of my ability to help potential clients with their vacation needs and wants and am I ready to grow this work that I want to be better at?
✅ My family and friends. Will I be ready to spend quality time with these people and make more moments count for good?
✅ My downtime. Am I ready to turn off the distractions and turn on time for self care?

2024 was another fabulous year of travel for me. Trips were taken for work and for fun. Let’s review:
⭐️Frisco, TX for a conference. Love the glass sculptures throughout the hotel.
⭐️Trip one of two for the year to Corpus Christi, TX for work. This was in March right before Spring Break.
⭐️Orlando, Florida-this was a combined trip for fun and work. First the fun and a few solo travel days to Walt Disney World Resort.
⭐️Then switched to the work part and stayed at the Ga***rd Palms Hotel and Convention Center.
⭐️Another work trip to Round Rock, TX…just outside of Austin. It was a really nice stay At Kalahari Resort and Convention Center.
⭐️Trip two to Corpus Christi for work. This is the monument dedicated to Selena.
⭐️Vacation time - mom and I joined a Globus tour to the Maritimes of Eastern Canada. It was such a great trip made even better since I went with my mom.
⭐️One last trip for work for the year, this time to Odessa, TX.
⭐️Last vacation of the year was back to Walt Disney World Resort with just my oldest niece right before Thanksgiving. A great trip with an even better teenager! Core memories made here.

Merry Christmas Eve! I am ready to celebrate the peacefulness of the season like those in Iceland and the tradition of Jolabokaflod, known as “the Christmas Book Flood." On Christmas Eve in Iceland, books are exchanged as gifts and the rest of the day or night is spent reading and eating chocolate and sipping warm drinks. This is my third year to follow the Icelandic tradition of Christmas Eve. I’ve also included a few pictures of my Iceland trip from a few years ago.

Continuing with my “new to me” review of my recent WDW trip with my niece. Today is all about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The log ride replaced Splash Mountain. It’s very well done and entertaining the entire way. It seems longer than what was Splash Mountain. When we were there in late November, you had to join the virtual queue to ride. I totally forgot to grab a spot at 7:00AM but made sure to set the alarms for the 1:00 release.

I apologize for the lack of social media involvement since my trip to Walt Disney World Resort. I want to spend this week sharing things that were “new to me” on this four night, three day trip. First, our stay at Coronado Springs Resort. We stayed in a 2 bed, preferred room in Casita Building number 3. It was not a long walk from the main tower to our building. We enjoyed the room and it was a great location for sleeping and showering. We ate every morning at the quick service location for breakfast and then boarded the buses to the parks. We felt very safe the entire time. Feel free to share in the comments your questions or comments about Coronado Springs Resort.

Walt Disney was born on this day in 1901. His legacy is a life of imagination and dreams come to life in bringing together families and friends for the common purposes of fun and smiles and memories.

I hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving with some of your favorite people and foods! We had Snacksgiving today since our group was smaller this year and we had a more traditional Thanksgiving meal last weekend.

I have much to be thankful for and in this season of Thanksgiving I would like to share one of the things I am most thankful for…family! The last couple of days, my niece and I visited one of our favorite places, Walt Disney World Resort, as her combined birthday and Christmas gifts from my mom and me for the next couple of gifting opportunities. What a fun time Avery and I had and what a joy it was to travel with just the two of us. She got to tell stories and share what’s going on in her life and future plans. I got to be the supportive aunt and try to soak up every minute of the trip and all the experiences. We both enjoyed riding all the thrill rides and sharing this time together. I’m so thankful to my mom for her support and guidance., to Avery’s parents for their trust in letting us go off together on this trip, and to Avery who brought the joy and energy to our trip. There were core memories made on this trip. I’m looking forward to more family time together tomorrow when we gather for “Snacksgiving” at mom’s house.

It’s almost travel day! What am I doing at the last minute? It’s still a full work day for me so I am in meetings and wrapping up some emails and projects today. I need to pick up a few more travel essentials and I hope to do this during my lunch break. And I need to pack! My clothes are clean, they just need to go in the suitcase. Oh, and we are joining together for family Thanksgiving at lunch tomorrow and then we head to the airport. Whew!

What super power would you choose this week? Me? I think I would choose flying! If I could speed fly through my daily commute I would get a few hours back in my day. With those extra hours I could pack for my upcoming Walt Disney World Resort trip, take care of errands, and maybe cleanup around the house.

Let’s talk about eats and treats while at Walt Disney World! For our upcoming trip, my niece and I plan to live in the moment and eat and snack as we want. We both can make meals out of snacks and like to snack throughout the day. I’m looking forward to the holiday treats and Mickey waffles. What eats and treats do you recommend?
