It's Opening Day of Baseball! As we welcome this springtime tradition .... Let's look at some of Southern Indiana's connections to America's favorite pastime.

Did you know the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, and Pittsburgh Pirates held Spring training at the West Baden Springs Hotel during their 1907-1908 seasons? The Cubs and White Sox returned for Spring training during the 1943-1944 seasons.

Historic League Stadium was one of the filming locations for "A League of Their Own" starring Tom Hanks and Geena Davis. They call it the "toughest trail race in Indiana" and it takes place tomorrow through the beautiful and rugged Owen Putnam State Forest.

The OPSF 50|50 is a long-standing Indiana tradition and is not for the faint of heart! This course gives runners an elevation gain of more than 4,500 ft over the 50 kilometer / 50 mile trail.
