ILast night in Paris was spent at an inexpensive (cheap) hotel near the airport. Found one that offered shuttle service and an attached diner.

Première Classe Roissy was pretty basic. It felt a little like modular units they had stacked on top of each other and the rooms felt like they catered to long distance drivers and college kids. But my dad did not raise me to be a snob when it comes to where I sleep. He did raise me to watch my budget and so that’s where I landed. It was pretty remote and walking a mile or two into the veld to find a decent restaurant wasn’t on my to-do list after a long day of travel from Zurich and figuring out the different ticketing requirements between countries.

But the cafe more than made up for any imagined deficiencies in the hotel. It was phenomenal. I risk offending gourmands here, but it might very well have been the best (and least expensive) meal I enjoyed in a long time.

Bouillabaisse coq-a-vin, prime rib, roast pork, oysters half-shell, cheeses galore, fruit and vegetable salads. And a plethora of desserts. There’s this pistachio chocolate thing that was amazing. Why did I not take pictures of the dessert buffet??

It’s almost worth traveling to Europe through Charles de Gaulle airport just to eat here.

Five stars Première Classe Roissy.

Now let’s talk about the Radisson JFK. Lovely room if you don’t like air conditioning. Shuttle service ends before last flights arrive (they seem to be the only ones that do that) despite advertising 24/7 shuttle. So you have to get a taxi or an uber. The most expensive place I stayed. And the breakfast was extra. No thanks. Please point me in the direction of the nearest truck stop hotel next time Book.com
