Our Story
I LOVE Alaska! Since my first job working onboard the Holland America ships in Alaska in 1985, I have been passionate about sharing this magical destination, with a special place in my heart for the the small ships that allow guests to touch Alaska up-close, away from the crowds.
And I love showing visitors how to maximize their enjoyment of their trip to the Great Land. There are just so many options- small expedition ships, mid-sized luxury ships, rail trips, all kinds of wilderness lodges, hiking journeys, and so much more. My first agency, Alaska Bound, evolved in 2013 to become Alaska and Beyond, as my clients booked other destinations after their Alaska trip. Costa Rica, Galapagos, Baja, European river cruises, Antarctica..... The internet is a great resource but most people get overwhelmed by the vast amount of information available to travelers today. My greatest pleasure (really!) is helping you sort through the options to create a once-in-a-lifetime trip that suits your personality, lifestyle, length of time allowed, and of course budget. We will spend as much time as necessary to research your dream trip.
My specialty are the small American vessels cruising the Inside Passage of SE Alaska- this is the *real* way to see Alaska up close. There’s nothing like seeing a whale right there, and hearing it’s music. Or the “white thunder” of a calving glacier- spectacular! No casinos or Broadway shows on these ships, but there is no compromise in comfort (how about a Tempurpedic mattress or free massage) as these boats take you to places the big ships cannot go. Most carry kayaks and/or paddleboards as well as the boots and raincoats you might need for a hike along a beach or into the rainforest. The naturalists onboard are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and will accompany you on the all-included shore excursions, and boy, do they do some cool things! Because these vessels are so small, many departures book up to a year in advance. Some early booking discounts available, but be prepared to spend more for these adventures available to a lucky few. Contact us to discuss the differences in cruise lines and vessels, and which would be best for YOU- that's our job!
