Day 8-Majestic Bamberg, Germany. Built on seven hills and a gem of the Franconian region. We enjoyed one of Germany's most beautiful towns with it's charm and timbered houses.

Day 6 & 7-Regensburg and Nuremberg.
Regensburg-We enjoyed this well preserved, quaint medieval town which boasts many historical features, including the marvel of 12th Century, Old Stone Bridge. I enjoyed the peace of the quiet and serene surroundings.
Nuremberg-A mix of the old and new. There is the old town with Castles, medieval walls and towers then there is the new with shops, traffic and many neighborhoods. A city with a long history and was the center of many wars and of course, famous for the Nuremberg trials. A fascinating city!

Day 5-Salzburg. No doubt, one of my favorite places. It is the birthplace of Mozart and probably most known (by most of us) for "The Sound of Music". A beautiful city, full of history and well preserved Baroque architecture.

Day 4 we began our day in the picturesque town of Durnstein. You can see above the city, the castle ruins where Richard the Lionheart, King of England, was once imprisoned. After our visit to the city, we enjoyed a 20 mile bike ride along the Danube where we then met the ship in the town of Melk. In Melk, we toured the Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe's largest monasteries.

Vienna, Austria is the Capital and a beautiful historic city. Vienna is home of the Hofburg Palace, Opera House, beautiful gardens and so many architectural marvels. The people of all the cities we visited in Austria were so fabulous and we felt very welcomed there. I have added a couple pictures of me at the helm of the ship where I was allowed to pilot (for a brief period of time :)

Our second port...Bratislava, Slovakia.
One of my favorite cities on the journey, "The Coronation City" which was once the capital of Hungary and crowed 11 kings. We enjoyed the Old Town, Main Square, the National Theater and of course we had to photograph "Cumil", the man peeking out of the canal which is one of the most photographed spots in Bratislava.

We are back from our two week river cruise from Budapest, Hungary to Amsterdam, Netherlands. Budapest is a beautiful area made up of Buda and Pest which are on opposite sides of the Danube River.
We enjoyed exploring the awe-inspiring sites of the city's Castle District to the beautiful views from the Fisherman's Bastion. Pest boasts the beautiful Hungarian Parliament building and Heroes' Square. Along the banks of the Danube in Pest, is "Shoes on the Danube Bank" which is an incredible memorial to unthinkable acts which commemorate the lives of Jewish Hungarians who perished in WWII.
I highly recommend that you visit this beautiful city and take in all the wonderful things it has to offer. I will continue to post the cities we visited along on our trip in the coming days. It was indeed a bucket list, trip of a lifetime!
