New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern recently visited the US on a trade mission that included a visit to Seattle to meet with Microsoft followed by an event at the Seattle Aquarium.

Down Under Answers’ President Kirk Demeter had the honor of chatting with her about the state of New Zealand tourism, which has only recently reopened to US travelers after a 2-year border closure.

During her conversation with Kirk, the Prime Minister said her visit to the USA was for several reasons. One of which was to make sure people know New Zealand open for business.

“Our tourism industry is critically important to us. It is very important for us to let those who are amongst one of our biggest tourism groups by arrivals here in the United States, to let you know that now is the time to start planning.”

“If you show New Zealand to a tourist or a visitor - you will see our pride come to the fore. We love nothing more than showing our hospitality to our guests. We want to complete ourselves, and we’re not complete unless we can show our hospitality to others,” the Prime Minister said.

Having just returned from New Zealand himself, Kirk assures travelers that New Zealand is enthusiastically welcoming North Americans back.

“I experienced this first-hand. The time to plan your New Zealand trip is now, and we can’t wait to help,” Kirk added.
