In 1947, fishing vessel (FV) "Duke" was built in Tacoma, WA. For fifty years, she plied the waters of the northwest looking for fish. In 1991 she was converted to a live-aboard cruising vessel. Since 2015, owned by Capt. Ryan Downs, she is an adventure platform for those looking to discover the natural and cultural wonders this frontier has to offer. Lovingly restored, the 50ft vessel offers the c

omforts of home while seeking hidden coves, deserted islands, and incredible wildlife such as orca, humpback, Dall's porpoise and eagles to name just a few. "Duke" offers adventures for a couple in a queen-sized cabin, or for four guests in bunks.

Whew! Been a whirlwind of a haul out! Some pretty invasive surgery was needed to keep the old girl going. We replaced the horn timber in the stern, re-bolted the keel and caulked and refastened the garboard planks. Put in a new depth sounder and paint all around. We splash Tuesday morning at 0800! Thanks to , Emerald Marine Carpentry and for all the help

Tall ships of the Alaska Packers Association anchored for the winter in Pleasant Bay, near Bellingham. Probably around 1916. Pleasant Bay was a calm anchorage to ride out the winter storms. In the summer, it’s a gorgeous place to spend an evening or a picnic on one of our day sails!
