Get excited! Sailing season for us aboard the #schoonerzociac is right around the corner!
Spring sailing is right around the corner and we have strong winds & cool temps to look forward to. This is the most exciting sailing of the year and we’re still searching for a SPRING INTERN to join us for April - June!
If you or somebody you know is looking to get into the maritime sector and want a diverse maritime experience - email us and let us know why you want to join our internship program.
Zodiac’s internship program is aimed to educate/train future captains & crew - aboard Zodiac, you’ll learn all the sailing stations (safety precautions), navigation, small & large boat operations, rigging, maintenance of an old wood boat and so much more (difficult to list everything you’d learn over sailing for 3 months).
There is no age limit for applicants, more importantly we will be looking favorably towards applicants who desire to enter the maritime sector as a career.
In the United States, we are painfully short of future mariners entering into the industry- we don’t have folks to replace retirees! This is why we are focused on helping out the maritime industry by training future sailors.
We know first hand of the shortage, we receive calls & messages from marine based companies asking if we have any AB level crew that want a job (very well paid job)

Steve, singlehandedly holding the ship up during dry dock.
What’s really happening is a hull seam was just filled with a hydraulic cement that’s curing. The stream of rainwater running down the hull will wash out the concrete before it cures. Steve is protecting the cement from the water while it cures, this stuff has a VERY short working time and can cure in minutes.
Behind the cement inside the seam is oakum & cotton and the cement seals and protects the seam from being washed out by water while sailing/motoring.
SOUND ON for the calming sounds of two of our corkers, working away during drydock last week.
#schoonerzodiac is out of drydock and floating again! We got a huge amount done with our crew, it was really amazing to watch all our folks focus and tackle so much work! The ship looks amazing with our new paint job!
A huge THANK YOU to all the folks that came out and helped out during dry dock!
Please don’t feed the wildlife
Folks that have sailed with us are familiar with this scene - Abby begging for some people food.
She has a tendency to beg but don’t fall for it, she will get sick! But she sure is cute when she tries
