The Perseids Meteor Shower is one of the largest meteor showers that graces our night skies each summer!! This year's peak is on Aug. 11th and all of our tours have already sold out for that night. Soooo we decided to add another Perseids Canoe Tour on Saturday, Aug. 10th!! While not the visual peak, there will still be a strong likelihood to see meteors on the 10th!

*The Perseids take place from July 17th - August 24th so if you can't make it for the peak days, there is still plenty of opportunity to catch a glimpse if joining us on our regular Moonlight & Starlight Canoe Tours*

✨Fort Rock Dark Sky Stargazing✨

For those that haven’t heard the news, the Oregon Outback recently became the largest Dark Sky Sanctuary in the US! This remote swath of land is home to some of the best stargazing opportunities in the world. Fort Rock, which lies just north of the newly designated sanctuary, is an absolutely incredible stargazing destination! Join us for an awe-inspiring night exploring Fort Rock and gazing at the cosmos above!
Wanderlust will have special nighttime access to this incredible National Landmark!

Our Clear Lake Kayak Tour is coming up soon! Don't miss out on your chance to paddle one of Oregon's most incredible lakes!

As our kayaks enter the glass-like waters of Clear Lake, we will revel in the crisp morning air. On our journey, we will explore and learn about the basaltic lava flows which damned this lake, inundating a forest whose ghostly skeletons remain frozen in time!

The Perseids Meteor Shower will grace our night skies beginning late July, peaking on August 11th. Join us on the 11th for a nighttime canoe or hiking tour during one of the biggest and brightest meteor showers of the year!!

It’s no secret that Central Oregon is home to some of the best stargazing in the country! The views that can be garnered of the stars and constellations above are truly second to none and always leave us both inspired and humbled by the vastness of the universe in which our pale blue dot finds itself. This spring, we have two night sky focused tours that are sure to leave you awestruck! In April, celebrate International Dark Skies Week with us by spending an evening exploring Prineville Reservoir State Park, Oregon’s only International Dark Sky Park. In May, we will once again head east into the Crooked River Caldera for a weekend of stargazing & stunning hikes! 🌌🌌🌌

✨New Event✨ We are super excited to announce our Forage to Table dinner event on May 18th!!! Join us as we go right to the source! For this incredible experience, we will be partnering with Luckey's Woodsman, experts in backcountry cooking, to teach guests about foraging, identification of flora and fauna, and how simple ingredients that can be found all around us in mother nature can be used to make and accentuate stunningly delicious dishes! After our foraging, we will sit down for a four course meal prepared by , using locally sourced ingredients and accompanied by local beer and wine.

Above you, snow falls softly, shimmering in a beautiful iridescence as the light of your headlamp dances off the frozen crystals. The air is crisp and fresh. You and your partner take a moment to be still, gazing warmly at the beauty of the forest around you, mittens clasped with one another. Off in the distance, you notice a faint golden glow. You know you’re close. The warmth and unmistakable coziness of a bonfire await you. With snowshoes on foot you continue on your journey as the whiff of hot cocoa lures you forward.

As we head into this long weekend, we want to take a moment to share and honor Native American Heritage Month. We are so fortunate to be here, in Central Oregon, where we have a beautiful and diverse landscape that has been stewarded for generation upon generation by Native people. We are especially thankful for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs; the Wascoes, Warm Springs, and Paiutes, who have cared for the land that we now recreate upon. Their history and spiritual connection to the land is woven into the bedrock of the mountains, rivers, and forests where we climb, run, and hike - the land where we seek peace, wisdom, clarity, and connection.

We are hopeful that Wanderlust Tours can continue to impart upon our guests the importance of these lands on which we recreate. That we can inspire others to learn, preserve, and revere these mighty and beautiful lands, ensuring that the generations to come have the same access to these special places and the same opportunity to connect and find peace within the natural world.

This weekend, if you find yourself recreating, we hope you take a moment of pause to appreciate the land and the history of the Native people that venerated these sacred grounds.
