as many of you know I’ve been a photographer + business owner for what feels like forever now! 14 years ago 20 year old me probably wouldn’t have believed it. almost half my life at this business owner thing and I can’t imagine it any other way. I’ve always found there’s a huge difference in a business owner and an Entrepreneur.

What is an entrepreneur to me?

an entrepreneur is someone who figures it out. They find a way no matter what obstacles they may face. They never stop going after their dream. They continue to wake up every single day with a strong desire to be better than the day before. They create life for themselves that can support them. They don’t depend on working for someone else - they take a chance on themselves no matter the risk.

They never give up.

Dropping out of college to pursue my dream as a full time wedding photographer wasn’t the best look. For the longest time people looked at my job, my career as a hobby. The truth is you can love what you do for work and that does not make it a hobby.

I knew I wouldn’t work for someone else, atleast I didn’t want to. I wanted to create a life for myself that I could be creative in what I do, challenged, and fulfilled. Every single day I wake up excited about my career but always dreaming of what’s next and what else I can accomplish.

It hasn’t always been an easy journey, but I wouldn’t be where I am today without the moments that have shaped me. I am a business owner. I am a photographer, a creator, an artist, but most of all I am an entrepreneur.

Less than a year ago I launched The Philly Girl Collective. In less than a year this empowering community has grown to support over 2,000 women business owners in the tri state.

My newest thing? A few months ago, not even I opened another business, the Philly Social House. its a work in progress but stay tuned for 2024. I have big plans!

An entrepreneur leads. An entrepreneur isn’t afraid to make mistakes, to grow. An entrepreneur fails and makes mistakes along the way, but they get back up to do it all over again - until they’re better than they once were.

I’m honored by this recognition and look forward to what the future holds. In a few weeks I will be speaking at temple university fox school of business’ entrepreneurial program for students. I am hopeful I can inspire even one person to go after their dream.

If you have an idea just go for it. Life’s too short and you’ll never regret the chances you take. Trust me the journey will be worth it, it’s a wild ride of ups and downs and everything in between.

This is your reminder to be open to a fun “lifestyle” engagement shoot! I tell my couples I wanna hangout with them, like go on their dates, walk through every day life with them - with my camera of course 📸 An engagement session should be real + it should be YOU! Kels + Kurt live in Fishtown currently, they enjoy margaritas and a good time! I thought would be the perfect place to start, we then walked around the city, stopped by the murals, and headed to where they had their very first date !!

Here’s to hoping more couples take my advice in 2023 😜

a little more about my awesome couple…

Like many modern day relationships, this one started with an online match. However, unlike many modern day relationships, Kurt and Kelsi started on opposite sides of the planet as Kurt prepared to relocate for work.

Communicating daily, FaceTiming and even watching movies remotely they finally were able to meet in person after 3 “long” months. Lost baggage, jet lag and a long Uber ride didn’t stop these two meeting on the day Kurt landed.

The two became inseparable, knowing they had each found their soulmate.

After only a few months of knowing each other in person and knowing they were each others person Kurt proposed in July (very romantically) in Kelsi’s living room whilst they watched TV 😅

I want to take a moment for these unbelievably stunning florals 💐 when I was helping sigrid + Ed plan the details of their 20 year renewal I knew they had to work with ✨ her work speaks for itself but the florals seriously made this day even more beautiful and added such feeling + color to the images I captured!

From the bouquets, the stunning archway frame for the ceremony, the florals scattered throughout the baked goods, the lose flowers I was able to incorporate into my detail shots, they were breathtaking and full of so much color and life!

Sigrid wanted her day to be timeless, breathtaking, dreamy, colorful and full of life, and it was all of that 🫶🏻 I can’t stop sharing these images because it truly was such a perfect day in my 2022.

I set a few business goals for myself this year…

a few of those goals include: to post more of what I want + when I want, not get so caught up on posting “what’s trendy or what’s in” to look back at my captured work + simply post more, in no particular order.

often as a photographer I get so caught up and so busy delivering everyone’s images that I don’t get the time to stop and look at all the amazing moments I’ve captured. allowing myself the time to do so has been so rewarding and I’m truly going to try my best to keep up with it in 2023! I’ve realized some of my best work yet has never been shared ✨ I also recently saw a quote about a photographers’ best moments captured are never the “favorite” images of today, but end up being some of the best moments in the years to come- looking back.

so here’s to sharing more in 2023 - taking the time to post more and also forgetting the insta algorithms because let’s be real, they’re whack 🤣

currently editing newborn / at home photos for this awesome couple as they recently welcomed their first baby girl into the world! I couldn’t help but go back + look at their engagement photos because I remember it was such a blast!

it was 2021, life was still a bit weird, it was a new norm- everyone walking the streets were in masks, the streets of Philly were covered with outdoor bars, it was just a different time…but I remember all Bob + Jul cared about was having fun while capturing their love. they were so down to earth, relaxed, and trusted me to do my job. they brought their fave beers along + yes green solo cups to just hangout in the city. We started where they had their first date at the old smokin’ bettys… the rest was history. but really since then I’ve captured their wedding day , maternity photos + their first photos as a family 🤍 I can’t wait to continue to capture these moments for them throughout the years to come!

there truly is something so special about my job, it’s an honor to document these memories for my clients year after year. if you’re getting married this year or in 2024 and I seem like the type of person you’d wanna hang with, I promise you - your engagement photos, wedding day (you name it) will be fun! My job is to capture my people real in the moment🫶🏻 if you trust your photographer, you’ll see the images you capture will be beautiful and timeless!

an engagement shoot is really all about being comfortable + hanging with your bestie for a few hours! 🖤 it’s really important you find a photographer you can be YOURSELF around. I can not stress this enough, uncomfortable moments make for uncomfortable / awkward photos. As a photographer, my goal is to always capture people - especially couples as true to real life as possible! Flew out to Denver and captured B + Berlyn in their element, just hanging out! They were so fun and relaxed and I love what we captured 📸

sig + ed chose to celebrate 20 years of love and marriage but with their 3 beautiful children! imagine if everyone could relive their wedding day but have their children help them get ready.
