The Mescal Movie Set would like to support a community effort to clean
our roadsides of trash and other items. Volunteers from the film set will donate their time to pick up the litter and debris carelessly left on the roadside of Mescal Road.

Volunteers are picking up roadside debris only. Please, this is not intended for locals to drop off their household trash. HOUSEHOLD WASTE OR LARGE ITEMS NOT ALLOWED

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER:

WHEN – Saturday, February 10, 2024 -- 10 AM through 12 Noon

WHERE – 1538 N. Mescal Rd. -- across the street from the set entrance. Roadside Trash Pick-up will be from the Train Tracks going North to the Mescal Movie Set. If you are part of the community (south of the train tracks to I-10) and would like to use this time to collect your roadside trash, Mescal Movie Set will be happy to haul your trash bags away! (NO HOUSEHOLD WASTE OR LARGE ITEMS ALLOWED)

WHAT TO BRING – Gloves, pinchers, or grabbers (so trash pick up can be a bit easier)

MESCAL MOVIE SET WILL PROVIDE – Trash bags, water, snacks, and a trailer to haul your roadside trash away.

We challenge other parts of the Benson community to do the same. We are proud of our community. Let's keep Benson's roadsides clean!

ICYMI:

UP No.1943 spotlights Union Pacific's relationship with thousands of veterans who helped build America after defending the United States - a tradition dating back to the company's founding. Created in collaboration with Union Pacific veterans, the locomotive name is connected to a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress funded by war bond contributions from Union Pacific employees in 1943. The plane was christened The Spirit of the Union Pacific and assigned to the 571st Bomber Squadron. The Spirit of the Union Pacific was shot down on its fifth mission during a raid on enemy installations in Munster, Germany.

This special locomotive came through today, BIG thanks to Frank Taillie for the heads up!

photo taken by our very own Gay Spivey! Great job!

A Christmas Tree was written by the late, great cowboy poet Baxter Black. And it’s very appropriate for this time of year.

"A Christmas tree is one of those things,

Like popcorn balls and angel’s wings

That children make in the snow.

A thing of beauty unsurpassed,

That touches our lives and never lasts

More than a week or so..."
