“The Rend Lake Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) was established to
promote the diverse tourism opportunities
in and around Rend Lake, a 19,000-acre
reservoir surrounded by 20,000 acres of
public land. Located in Franklin County,
just 4 hours south of the Chicagoland
area, Rend Lake is truly a hidden gem of
Illinois, offering an abundance of
recreational activities such as fishing,
boating, camping, hiking, and wildlife
observation.
The CVB emerged from the Rend Lake
Area Tourism Council following a
successful certification process through
the Illinois Office of Tourism. This
certification allows us to access state
funding and expand our efforts to attract
visitors, conventions, and events to our
region.
Our mission is to highlight the natural
beauty, outdoor adventures, and unique
cultural experiences that make the Rend
Lake area a must-visit destination.
However, this wouldn't be possible without
the invaluable support of our lodging
partners and the strong community
backing from local municipalities,
governmental bodies, and nonprofit

🌌☄️🌝🌚🌠This weekend, you can catch the Northern Lights right here in the Rend Lake Project Office/ Visitor Center area! Thanks to a big solar storm, the aurora borealis is putting on a show far south of its usual turf. These storms happen when the Sun throws out a bunch of solar wind and magnetic fields. When these hit Earth, they light up our sky in amazing colors.
📱📸🤳And here's a pro tip: use your phone camera to snap pictures. Phones today are great at taking pics in low light, and they can capture colors and details of the aurora that our eyes usually miss. Just tweak your camera settings to let in more light, and you’ll get some stunning shots to share!
