There might be a little dust on the paddle but the
6th annual Battle in the Bay Paddleboard Race is always a good reason to start your paddling season!
The Paddleboard Race, presented by Base Camp Bigfork, is back for the 2024 Bigfork Whitewater Festival. Dust off those paddleboards and get ready for a flat water race around Bigfork Bay! @bigforkwhitewaterfestival
This year the race will offer three divisions with coordinating courses: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. This year we are having a max of 10 paddlers per division.
- Beginner .5 mile (out and back)
- Intermediate 1.2 miles (2 laps in Bay)
- Advanced 2.7 miles (from bay to Wayfarers State Park Dock plus one lap in bay)
All racers must supply their own SUP, paddle and PFD. $30 entry fee. Prizes for first place in each division! Every paddler is entered to win from an awesome raffle.
Saturday, May 25th Schedule:
- Registration 8:30-10:00 a.m. Downtown Bigfork
- Safety Meeting 10:30 a.m. Bigfork Bay Public Dock
- Races Start 11:00 a.m. Bigfork Bay Public Dock
- Awards Ceremony at Lake Baked to follow!
KEEP MONTANA WILD
My first capture of a Canada Lynx on my trail camera. Plus a mountain lion that passed through the following day.
As a federally designated Threatened Species with numbers in Montana being possibly as low as 300 it is amazingly rare to encounter a lynx in person or on a trail camera. Montana has some of the last intact ecosystems on the planet and folks living or visiting here should value the importance of this and treat it with the respect it deserves.
