A lot of elbow grease went into shaping, cutting, and finishing the edges of this livewell lid all by hand. Who’s going to be the first to scratch it?
Got it done on the last day of our snapper season. Though the average size of the red snapper was smaller this year we had limits on every trip, caught a few jumbos, and were also able to stuff the box with mangroves on most trips. Hopefully we will get a fall season shortly before Labor Day.
Finally found some bigger red snapper with the biggest around 16lbs. Also lucked up and caught a 12.5lb+- mangrove snapper today while prospecting
What a day. Tons of flounder, their limit of red snapper, and some nice mangroves to top it off.
Saturdays snapper trip with 18 mangroves and their limit of red snapper
Sometimes we get lucky with the flatfish
I have a last minute opening for tomorrow Thursday May 23 if anyone is interested. The bite has been hot
After a miserable day of fishing on Friday with fish moving on me and high winds etc, yesterday turned out to be a wonderful day. We started off fishing some structure for sheepshead, bumped around some and fished the surf and caught some more sheepshead and whiting and a couple of ground mullet. We straightened a hook out on what we think was a big redfish. After that I wanted to see if we could sight fish some so we tried it. No redfish but we landed our first jack crevelle of the year and ended up catching a very very nice Florida pompano and ended up putting a flounder in the box also.
For the record hardhead catfish are not my buddies. Please someone develop a commercial market for these fish to help alleviate some of them. On the contrary, I get that they probably help play a part in the eco system, but compared to other species very few are harvested which creates in inbalance. As a fisherman, they cause us a great expense in bait and time.
