Growing up in the Greenville Maine area in the 80s and 90s I will never forget the sights and sounds of being in the old Folsom's hangar near the lake and at the airport. My favorite plane of all was the yellow DeHavilland Beaver that Folsom's operated. It was always a dream of mine to bring that sort of era

back to Maine for people to relive or experience for the first time. It was without a doubt a staple in the heritage of Maine floatplane flying. Everyone knew about that plane. At least everyone that I knew but then again, I've been around floatplanes in Maine for more than 40 years! This past winter we (my wife and I) decided to make this a reality. In March we travelled to Anchorage, Alaska to look at this 1957 yellow DeHavilland beaver that was sitting in the dark surrounded by snow on the side of Lake Hood gravel strip. We spent a few days looking it over and decided that somehow the people of Maine and those visiting need to experience a bush plane like this the same way I did when I was a kid. On May 14, 2024, I started up the vintage aircraft and began the journey from Anchorage to Maine. Six days later the brand new Aerocet floats touched a Maine lake for the first time. This aircraft has had many upgrades over the recent years including new wings, new wing support struts, new floats, new propeller, avionics upgrades and the gross weight increase to 5600 pounds from 5100 pounds. Which allows us to carry almost 2000 pounds of passengers, cargo and fuel! This aircraft will allow for six passengers and a pilot to safely operate within all weight and balance parameters with a large margin of safety. We will provide Western Maine with the best experience possible in this extremely capable and awesome airplane by offering 30-minute tours around the mountains, lakes and rivers. Everyone gets a full seat in this beauty, and you won't feel like you're in the baggage compartment.

Our aircraft N454DB a 1957 Dehavilland Beaver went on its first flight November 28th 1957. We will have to have a round of crown royal for the ole girls birthday today!

I have had a lot of people ask me what I do with the plane in the winter. This year we took the floats off and it’s going to have a nice warm and dry hangar to be in. We will be doing some upgrades to it and have it ready for next season.

Another awesome weekend out there flying tours around western Maine with some awesome people. There’s only a few more weeks of the season left. This plane can take 5 hours of fuel plus 30 minute reserve and still haul 1148 pounds of stuff in it. Usually we fly with around 300-400 pounds of fuel which leaves us right round 1600-1700 pounds of useful load. So in other words this plane can carry 7 242 pound people and still be able to fly for almost 2 hours. Pretty impressive for a floatplane. Most other popular floatplanes can carry about 800-1000 pounds of stuff. Which means if you add any amount of fuel the weight of people gets limited very quickly.
