Flashback 1 year ago to our European getaway. Visiting Germany, Switzerland, and the beautiful Balearic Island of Mallorca. The astonishing architecture, and beautiful artworks, to the delicious foods we tried, turned this into an unforgettable getaway.

We went out to visit Big Spring Park, and the new
Q Korean B.B.Q & Revolving Sushi restaurant… Definitely worth the visit, and 30 min wait to get in.

This outrigger dugout canoe of Tikopia origin was found drifting in the Tasman Sea in the 1970’s by a Tuna Vessel. It was found with its rowing paddles in place, but no fisherman insight. Still to this day the mystery of the unmanned canoe has never been solved.

Tikopia is an island in the independent island nation of Solomon Islands 🇸🇧. You can see this canoe at the Auckland Maritime Museum.

While in New Zealand 🇳🇿, one of the things we done was a Māori Cultural Experience. The Māori are the indigenous people of New Zealand. Their native language is Polynesian. During this encounter, they performed a native welcoming ceremony for us known as a Haka, to officially welcome us to “Aotearoa”. Which is native for the North Island of New Zealand.

This native welcoming ceremony was very well, one of the most intense, and emotion filled experiences I’ve ever encountered during our travels. You can feel the intensity of their ceremony in the air around you, as it seems to reverberate throughout your entire body down to a cellular level. Changing your heart rate, and heightening your senses of awareness…Most definitely an experience, I’ll never forget.

We got out, and about this weekend. Around the Birmingham metro area. We attended the 51st Annual Greek Food Festival 🇬🇷…They had good entertainment, and even better food! 😋

Our adventures have took us on a tour of 6 different continents. Allowing us the opportunity to see some of history’s most famous landmarks, and locations from around the world. As well as interact with people from some unique, and beautiful cultures. Can’t wait to see where our adventures take us next! 6 continents down, and 1 to go ⛄️ ❄️ 🐧 🥶 😉.

One of the activities we done in New Zealand was a 5 1/2 mile walk around the Te Ara Tahuna Estuary.

We actually didn’t realize it was 5 1/2 miles, due to a Kilometers into Miles miscalculation 😂, and it turned into a survival mission to make it back to the car in time before all the restaurants in town closed for the night.

We started in Sunlight, and made it back to the car at night.

One of the top museums on our list in New Zealand was the Auckland National Maritime Museum. They have a big complex, and the perfect location. Offering a detailed maritime history of the Oceania region.

One of the adventures we went on while in New Zealand was our tour of the beautiful Waiheke Island. We actually just randomly hopped a car Ferry, because why not 🤷🏽‍♂️, with no return plans.

They told us the ferry we were on was there last Ferry of the day, and tried to talk us out of it because of no return trip, but I was like I been stranded before. I’m going 🤣. Lol, definitely spontaneous, and definitely a lot of fun.

This place was beautiful, luckily the bus driver on the island was nice once he found out it was our first time on the island, and gave us our first ride for free, because you couldn’t pay with cash, or card. You had to have a special account with the bus line to transit.

We visited the Tāmaki Paenga Hira as it’s known in the local Māori language. We were officially welcomed to New Zealand by indigenous Māori tribes people, with a native welcoming ceremony during a cultural experience program (quite intense), and taught an oral history of their peoples. We boarded the Sealink Ferry from Auckland New Zealand, over to Waiheke Island.
