Our mission is to add value to Birmingham by making the area more positive, fun, and food equitable. Woman-owned & Black-owned, MCFT Picnics is a scavenger hunt food tour and luxury pop-up picnic company started by Yawntreshia Coleman. After two back-to-back high risk pregnancies, heart failure, postpartum depression, and COVID-19, Coleman relaunched her food tour business with scavenger hunts and

luxury picnics. For over a decade, Coleman has engaged and empowered the community to bring people together with a purpose. Last year, she distributed over 400 USDA produce boxes to area neighborhoods during the pandemic. She personally hand delivered half of those boxes to neighbors' front porches. Coleman currently serves on four local nonprofit boards ranging from respite care to sustainability to music education to hunger/poverty. Most recently, she joined Rise Against Hunger's Community Engagement Board. From running for local office in 2009, advocating for smoke-free and environmental protection laws with the Lung Association in 2010-2011, graduating grassroots & political leadership programs in 2014, to pitching a City Ambassador Program in 2016, she is a deep-rooted Birmingham advocate. Passionate about the city she lives, Coleman’s mission is to foster enthusiasm, positive community spirit and to market the City's many attributes. In 2017-2018, Coleman committed to one year of voluntary intensive public service at Railroad Park, chaired the health & wellness initiative, Project Yummy, for the Junior League of Birmingham, AND graduated the WOW Ambassador Hospitality Program conducted by the CVB Tourism Department. What better way to be the city’s best ambassador than to bring creative, unique food tours and picnic experiences at affordable prices to the Greater Birmingham region?!

Whether date nights, birthdays, brunches, proposals to bridal showers and baby sprinkles, MCFT Picnics creates picnic experiences that are Instagram photo op worthy. Awesome add-ons are available such as our food tours, games, Bluetooth speaker, and a customized letter board.

In addition, there are currently two food tour options: Magic City Hunt (Scavenger Hunt Style) and MCFT Showdown (Basic to Bougie Style). All teams who beat the two hour time limit for our scavenger hunt food tour will be placed on the MAGIC CITY HUNT LEADERBOARD!

The wings were flavorful but the collards and potatoes both tasted like they were missing something. However, the sweet potato casserole was so good! Going back to try their breakfast and meat & veg plate.

We’re so excited to add this giant wicker chair to our indoor luxury picnic setup. Can’t believe we got this incredible find for $40!

The last time we had been to AMC DINE-IN 10 was in May 2019 when we went to see Godzilla King of the Monsters. This movie theater has spacious, heated luxury recliners with trays that pivot and an innovative menu where staff delivers your food order to your seat. We both tried the Royal Bacon Brie Burger with Fries…a little too sweet for my stomach but I enjoyed the culinary presentation.

The science center is a treasured local attraction in Birmingham. McWane’s TMNT area took me back to my childhood. My younger daughters are in taekwondo so they loved the exhibit. I finally pried them away by explaining that there were other areas of the science center and we had limited time to explore. #magiccity #scavengerhunt

12 years ago, I ran for city council on a platform of improving municipal communication, training & supporting youth and young people in entrepreneurship, encouraging community and economic revitalization and expanding educational opportunities. While I came in dead last, I never lost my passion for advocating for our City. MCFT Picnics has been a constant spirit & soul-filler that combines every work, community organizing, organization, religious, leadership program, etc experience I have had both positive (skill builders) and negative (lessons learned). Magic City Food Tours & Luxury Picnics promotes Birmingham area small businesses. I’m requesting local products to include with our products to host a picnic basket giveaway during our INAUGURAL SMALL BUSINESS WEEKEND. My hope is to partner with hundreds of small businesses to do a huge citywide scavenger hunt, pop ups, pop-in interviews, and virtual games for Black Friday, Small Business Day, Giveaway Sunday and Cyber Monday.
