This month marks the start of my 15th year as a travel agent. FIFTEEN years!
It is very rare to find a travel agent who can say that this career is TRULY what they hoped it to be. What they envision is often a bit more glamorous than reality, but I can honestly say this career has been EVERY BIT of what I hoped it would be. And it has nothing to do with the fact I love to travel, my flexible schedule or travel perks. While all of those things are great at times, the truth is…I had not traveled internationally much prior to starting this career, my flexible schedule often causes me more stress than a structured one and the “perks” don’t come without work. A lot of work! My dream career at 21yo was to sit behind a desk and organize vacations from beginning to end. The most UNGLAMOROUS part of this job is what truly excites me and gives me the most joy. I wanted to connect with people, listen to their vacation goals, then work on their vacation as I would my own while taking away as much stress possible for them. And I get to do just that. Every…single…day!
If you’ve hired me at any point over the past 15 years and given me the privilege to organize your vacation, I am so thankful! I understand how precious vacations are…from saving up for them, to asking for time off from work, planning around school schedules, etc…so it isn’t lost on me the trust you extend to me when you decide to hire me. 💗
So, here’s to year 15! 🎉 I got into this industry as one of the youngest and don’t plan on exiting until I’m one of the oldest. 💃🏼➡️👵🏼 So, let’s start planning something fun!
