I was walking along Bass Lake the other day trying to have a quiet moment in nature, and I came along the heart pond. I’ve gone by it hundreds (yes, hundreds) of times before but never has this resilient heart shaped structure been more significant. I had a moment here. The heart pond is a reflection of Western NC - strong, beautiful, and full of love.

The mountain people strong, but we’re stronger because of YOU! Thank you to everyone, especially those risking their lives, for helping the region heal. The love, support, generosity and compassion will get us through to better times ahead. ❤️‍🩹
