And….she’s done! We have a basement people ❤️. Our contractor is simply the best and finished today. We have a sleeper couch coming next week (here’s a picture-same couch as we had before-ignore the throw pillows) and we have to pick out a rug. I’m including a pic of a rug I am thinking about in a whimsical way….tell me the honest truth….yay or nay?

Huzzah! The house is finished.....almost! Actual work to the home is finished tomorrow, the 15th. The house gets cleaned inside and out on Nov 23, pics go back on the wall Nov 26th, new rug goes down Nov 27th and new couch gets delivered on Nov 29th and I take a nap on Nov 30th! Will have pics for you soon. But, the house is back. We have lowered prices to get empty nights filled back up....tons of availability over the next few months and don't forget Appalachian Ski Resort is two miles up the road!

We’re almost there! We went with a darker floor than we originally thought to match the existing wood trim throughout the house. I like it. Though this has been “fun” I’m looking forward to things in the mountains being settled back down.

Well….the bear’s been at it again. Time for a new trash enclosure. Little Rascal! The deer are so much more friendly. On the bright side of things, work is almost done. We’ll be back up at the house for Thanksgiving week and we have been assured the house will be ready for us. New furniture has been ordered and the house will be ready for you to rent come Dec 1.

Happy Halloween Eve everyone! For those that are interested in the spooky side of Appalachia the Green Park Inn is 3.3 miles from Fehrway To Heaven and we drive by it all the time when we are there. Even in the dead of summer it has some ghosty vibes. Yet another reason to come visit. You know you wanna. House should be ready by December 1.

Life is starting to get back to normal here at Fehrway to Heaven. Blowing Rock is fully functioning and now much of the parkway is open. We are hoping the basement will be done within the next three weeks and then we are hoping to spend Thanksgiving in the house making it fully ready by December 1. There is so much to do here in the winter…not to mention the ski slopes two miles from the house (Appalachian ski resort). Come stay. You won’t regret it.

We’ve chosen a floor! We’ve decided to go with a sturdy LVP floor. In the frightful event that the home floods again it will be easier and cheaper to replace. I love the way it looks. While we wait for the work to be completed I have been shopping and have decided to pretty much go with the same look. We found the same couch and fireplace (both will be brand new) bonnet been able to find the same rug. If you guys have a suggestion for a rug I’d love to see them! Including before pics so you can get the idea of what flooring is being replaced and the rug that we loved and lost.

Well, y’all come back now, y’hear? Watauga county is recovering nicely and businesses are back up
And running in Blowing Rock. You still have time to
come and see the fall colors while supporting the area in getting back on its feet. It may be a hot minute before you can stay at Fehrway To Heaven but I’ll let you know when we’re back up and running and we’ll be better than ever.

Ok…..need your help! We need to pick out the floor and we’re trying to match the trim around the door which is basically the trim throughout the house. Do any of these options do the trick? Should I keep looking? Your feedback is appreciated!

For those following our journey, we’re getting there! Basement will be dried out by Wednesday and then the rebuild begins. Weirdly excited about this. Thinking of going with a “barn” or “farmhouse” style floor. What do you guys think???

Well......we celebrated too soon. Looks like the basement DID flood after all. We had about an inch of standing water and we have work starting at the house today. Already filed an insurance claim. Floor needs to come up, baseboards and drywall need to come out, some furniture will be gone (goodbye cute rug baby Fehrway chose and goodbye games trunk!). But....is it terrible for me to say that I am not sad to see that tile go? Trying to find the silver lining. So, the house will be shut down through Christmas.....but lucky you! You get to come along on this ride with us and see us turn lemons into lemonade as we create an even more fun basement for you to enjoy!

This is the Walmart 15 minutes down the mountain from Fehrway to Heaven in Boone. We shop here all the time. This is heartbreaking to see. “Luckily” FTH is almost right at the top of our part of the mountain so we don’t have issues with flooding. This is devastating but one thing I do know is that communities are resilient and we will survive this and Boone will be back in its feet in no time. This may be a time to think about taking a winters vacation here to help build the economy back up. Not at FTH specifically but to Watauga County. More pics in! Just a lot of leaves but the house is for sure sound. So excited to see my cute little bird house and wreath on the front door stayed in tact. Much relief. Now for the utilities to come back on and for a major yard clean up. Hopefully the rest of the county will be able to get their work done with as much ease.

Huzzah! The house has survived with no damages! Just as cute as ever with some yard debris and it looks like the fire pit chairs had some fun this weekend. Even the rocking chairs decided to hang around for more vacation memories. I’ll let you know once electric is back on and the house is back in business. Hi everyone! I’ve fielded a lot of messages today checking in on how the house has “Fehred” during the storm (see what I did there?) and my answer to you is that I don’t know. The area the house is in has been effected dramatically and the property management company we use is overwhelmed with their own personal losses. No one has been by the house yet to report back to us and we are in Florida dealing with Helene’s damage here. The good news is that we have someone we know going to the house on Monday and will report back to us at that time. I think we have neighbors that would have reached out if there were obvious issues and we are on high enough ground in regards to flooding so I am hopeful. Regardless, we will be back up and running as soon as we can for you to enjoy your own beautiful mountain getaway. Send good thoughts and vibes…..North Carolina needs it!

This is what we hope to offer you a little piece (peace???) of here at Fehrway to Heaven. Let us be your quaint cabin in the woods. We have a fully equipped kitchen where you can make pumpkin anything to your hearts content. We don't have a record player, but there is the Pandora app on the smart TV's throughout the home. We have books for you downstairs, and there is a table where you can write your great American novel. We are blissfully happy when we are there and this is what we hope to offer to you. Come stay.
