The Northville Lake Placid Trail is a 3 week Trek through the backcountry in the Adirondacks. This event commemorated the 100th year anniversary of that trail at the Adirondack Experience the museum in Blue Mountain Lake. Very nice affair, and the food by L & J Catering was delicious and impressive. Take a look!

3 days ago 85% of the snow on our property was gone. Just when you think it's over we got 13 inches of new fresh powder over the last 48 hours. Sure is pretty though. Winters Last Stand. It's the Adirondacks. Scenes from around town, Indian Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Lake Adirondack and Lake Abanackee.

Hit the snowmobile trails yesterday for the first time.... believe it or not. Running into some of the guys from our local snowmobile club, the Snow Warriors. They were doing a meet and greet and did a wonderful job yesterday grooming the trail from the Blue Mountain Lake intersection halfway going to Long Lake. Great ride, great job guys!

Friday night I had the honor playing with the Faulkner family for Bob's 75th birthday celebration at Paradox Brewery in North Hudson. Got to play for the first time with his two sons Kyle and Trevor, and yes it's true Sharon sings. And has a lovely voice. And that's their adorable granddaughter with protective headphones. So cute.

While I wasn't performing I took some other pics of the other musicians that played at the open mic.

That's in the Ann (she plays the Bass Fiddle) and Bob who organize the event. The Bears, Uncle Mark, Bree, and Eric Peters just to name a few musicians. Had some fun backing up Eric a little bit and Bill (not pictured).

It's a beautiful Sunday morning in Blue Mountain Lake. Happy President's Day everybody! We've gotten about 8 in of fresh snow in the last 3 days, all winter activities are back in play. The tracks you see go out of the back of my property go to a gas station if you want to come to do some snowmobiling this holiday week. Plenty of parking too for your trailer! The trail system is across the street and cuts right in front of Chef Darrell's Mountain diner which is open if you don't want to cook in the room. Which you can.

These trails can also be used for cross country skiing and snowshoeing right from our rooms. And Gore Mountain and Macaulay Mountain have fresh powder as well. A great time to come up to the Adirondacks is right now!

Today's forecast is predicting the next three or four days full sun and we're getting more snow over the weekend.

Gore Mountain is one of the largest and best ski areas just 35 minutes from our door. They have had wonderful snow most of the winter. It is a New York state run facility so you'll need to get your tickets online. Look for the deals there are several. That's ice fisherman out on Blue Mountain Lake and Lake Durant today. Plenty of ice here, so if you want to come for some lake trout, small or large bass, landlocked salmon & tiger muskie our lodging is literally walking distance to both lakes.

Blue Mountain Lake is about a half a mile and Lake Durant is less than 2 miles. You can drive also. Bring your tip ups, tent and gear and get out there. Fishing license can be attained online or at the local chamber office.

Rocking the house at the Lake Harris Lodge at last night's open mic put on by Eric Peters. That's Bob opening up with a few of his classics. The Yod squad got things going, Paul Roalsvig, Glenn LeBlanc, and me the conga man. Eric called me Lenny Bag of donuts... LOL.Then the Yod squad backed up Nancy Halter with her beautiful voice doing some love songs. Mike Nerney showed up and jumped in. Terry did a great rendition of Tracy Chapman's Fast Car which she just learned that day! Sorry I didn't get his name but this guy from Indian Lake did acapella stories about the Adirondacks. And the banjo player Marc Sica brought down the house. It was a party!! Most of the musicians jumped in at the end for the finale. Dance floor was full what fun!

More Macaulay Mountain today. It's a small family Mountain vertical is small but it's very inexpensive. Great to bring your family. Only $30 for a lift ticket and rentals are also a bargain. It's located in Old forge New York. Come on out. Lenny

Hit the slopes for the first time in 4 years today at McCauley Mountain in Old forge. Gorgeous sunny day. And considering how infrequent the snow has been this year the conditions were really good. Guess the old man can still do it.

Macaulay mountain is 45 minutes from our lodging and in the opposite direction about 35 minutes is Gore Mountain. There's nothing like being in the Adirondacks.

Second tracks.

My last snowmobile entry mentioned that if you bring your sled or rent one you can ride right out from our rooms out onto the trails.

These are a few images coming from our property across the street past Chef Darrell's Mountain diner directly through his property and on to the Blue Mountain Lake trail. From there you'll cross over the road into the lake Durant campsite for a very short period and hit the trail that takes you to Indian Lake and beyond.

Where you can literally ride for hundreds of miles. North, south, east or west, Indian Lake to Speculator or Paceco. Or from Blue Mountain Lake trail to Long Lake, Forked Lake, Raquette Lake ,Inlet and back through the Moose River plains. Or at the split in Inlet you can go to Old forge and all the way out to the Tug Hill plateau. Other directions can be out to Newcomb and Harris Lake, or straight North up to Saranac Lake.

This is snowmobile country.

The last few pics are the trail that come right through our property and directly to the gas station on the corner. So you can gas up before or after your trip.

I also allow my guests to use my garage if you need a quick repair.

This is the crossover point of the northville Lake placid trail less than 2 mi from our property. As you can see yesterday somebody went cross-country skiing.
There is a trailhead here or you can literally strap on your skis or snowshoes and head out right from our rooms at Blue Mountain Rest.

This is an excellent ski venue because it heads right into the lake Durant campsite. A skiers Haven because it is blocked off from any other traffic. And once the lake freezes which I believe it is frozen now you can go out into the lake and get spectacular views of Blue Mountain itself.
