✨Happy New Year fellow travelers!✨

It Is amazing that 2023 is already coming to an end.

To start with, I want to say THANK YOU to all my amazing clients. It is hard to believe I have been “Dream Vacations by Kate” for 2 years already. Without your support and trust, I would not have made it this far. So, thanks from the bottom of my heart. 🥰

Spending more on travel experiences, travelling for longer periods of time and splurging for comfort & convenience are all winning out over cheapo trips.

A little late this month, but here are the travel trends for August 2023. ✈️

✨ #1 spot is Europe! ✨
Vacations were mix of both Ocean and River Cruises and Escorted Land tours.
🚌 Guided tours booked in August consisted of Italy (16 nights), Spain & Portugal (13 nights) and Tulip Time in Holland & Belgium (10 nights).
🛳 The most popular River Cruise was Vikings “Grand European”, a 14-night sailing from Amsterdam to Budapest with stops in The Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Hungary.
🚢 Ocean Cruises in Europe consisted of Mediterranean itineraries, including ports in Italy, Greece, Spain Malta, Turkey and Sicily. Small ships around 1200 passengers were trending, and average length was 11 days.

✨ #2 spot was Alaska! ✨
⛴ Small ships took the lead again. Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Silversea Cruises were most booked, with sailings averaging 7 days.

✨ Review of The Vinoy - St. Petersburg✨

This autograph collection hotel by Marriott, also known as “The Pink Lady” was excellent. The staff was super, the room was comfortable and spacious, and the little touches like complimentary sunscreen and cold towels by the pool made this a luxury experience. While this property is a bit of a splurge, it is totally worth it!
Since it’s opening in 1926, the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Babe Ruth and multiple presidents have been guests. And, it is reportedly haunted!

🛳 July was another month for cruises! The Caribbean took the top spot for new bookings, followed by Europe and Alaska.

🏝 Caribbean cruises trending this month were larger ships, with lots of activities, amenities and entertainment onboard. #1 booked cruise line was Celebrity! Caribbean islands featured on these itineraries included Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao and Grand Cayman, along with ports of Cozumel, Belize, and the Panama Canal. The average Caribbean cruise booked was 9 nights.

🏔 Alaska cruises also including a land portion (called a Cruise Tour) are extremely popular and a great way to see all Alaska has to offer. Ports on the Alaska itineraries booked in July included Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and scenic cruising along The Inside Passage, Glacier Bay and Hubbard Glacier. Land tours range from 2 to 11 days, in addition to a 7-night sailing. Denali, Talkeetna, Anchorage and a ride on the Alaska Railroad are all options on an Alaskan adventure.

🌍 The longest trip booked was a back-to-back cruise and land tour. What could be a better experience than a week in Tuscany exploring vineyards and medieval towns, followed by a breather in Rome for a few days, and finishing with a week cruising Italy and Greece? This trip is 19 days and is the perfect mix of land & cruise, sightseeing and relaxation.

⛳️ Sporting events have also been very popular, and the British Open is a dream event for many. This trip is a custom European, starting in Amsterdam, followed by a week in London and wrapping up with the Open. Definitely a bucket list trip!

Did you know?
Starting in 2024, the European Commission will roll out an electronic travel authorization system called ETIAS for visitors from countries that are currently not part of the EU.
ETIAS stands for the European Travel Information and Authorization System, and will check the security credentials and charge a fee to travelers visiting EU member countries for business, tourism, medical or transit purposes.
This is not a visa, is linked to a traveler's passport, and is valid for up to three years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
