Another great step for our community and it's recovery, looks great!

We are happy to announce Bat House Park has reopened! The park will be open daily, dawn to dusk.

The park has been closed since 2022 when Hurricane Ian caused damages to the facility, including the seawall. The project to repair the park included replacing the seawall, repairing the restroom building and replacing landscaping.

The Legend of Cypress Jack:

Deep in the heart of Old Florida, where the cypress knees rise like whispers from the swamp and the air hums with the calls of herons, there’s a story passed down by the locals about a man named Cypress Jack.

Jack wasn’t just any man; he was a swamp dweller, born with the rhythm of the Everglades in his veins. They say he knew every bend in the river, every song of the frogs, and every secret trail where the panthers tread softly under moonlight.

Cypress Jack lived in a shack made of driftwood and Spanish moss, perched precariously over the tannin-stained waters. He spent his days weaving nets from palmetto fibers and his nights guiding lost souls out of the maze-like swamps. Folks whispered he had the “swamp sense,” a kind of magic that let him feel the land as if it were part of him.

One summer, when the rain refused to fall and the rivers ran low, the swamp grew quiet. The creatures grew desperate, and the people feared the worst. That’s when Jack disappeared into the mangroves with nothing but a jar of moonshine and his carved walking stick.

For three days and nights, the swamp stayed silent. Then, on the fourth day, a storm rolled in, fierce and wild. The skies opened up, drenching the parched land. When the rain stopped, Jack was seen standing in his boat, a gator swimming beside him like a loyal hound. He looked up at the sky and grinned. “Told ya she’d come around,” he said.

They say the swamp owed him its life that day. And though Jack has long since vanished into the folklore of Florida, some swear they still see his shack light glowing deep in the Glades on stormy nights. And if you’re lucky—or lost—you just might catch a glimpse of Cypress Jack, guiding you home with his swamp-born magic.

A pretty fast lower half kitchen remodel was wrapped up in apartment #2 today, like 6 days and there’s paint on the walls, silverware in the drawers and the new freezer is making ice 🙂

All new interior doors, and some trim work along with some painting remains, but that’s basicly it besides hunting for new furniture 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼

We are expecting our first guests this weekend since the first storm hit us, months ago, we are so ready to get back to business!

We’re halfway back!
The hot water is back on, and the upper floor is open for business 💃
The bottom floor will be ready in December, the Cottage will follow that…so we’re doing great 👍🏼
The building is fully booked from January through March with a waiting list!

Nature here at the hotel is trying to rebuild just like we are. First bloom here after the beat-down, not a leaf in sight, but the hibiscus blooms nonetheless 🌸…just like us.

As of 6:00pm we still have a roof, all the windows and have not had water in the yard. The storm has passed us, but now the challenging part…endure what surge might come our way, so far so good though 🙏🏽
Had to leave that area because the wind was pretty strong (70knts), I’ll go back in a few hrs when things chill out a bit and check back in.
