Happy Birthday, Animal Kingdom & Happy Earth Day!
🌍🎉🐾
Today we’re celebrating two incredible milestones—Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s birthday AND Earth Day!
Did you know? Animal Kingdom officially opened on April 22, 1998, which was no coincidence—it was designed to highlight Disney’s dedication to conservation and the magic of the natural world. 🌱✨
Here are some fun facts about Animal Kingdom to celebrate:
🦒🦁🐘
1. It’s Disney’s largest park!
At over 500 acres, Animal Kingdom is the biggest Disney park in the world—larger than Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios combined! 📏🌳
2. The Tree of Life has over 300 animal carvings.
This iconic centerpiece stands 145 feet tall and features detailed carvings of animals on its trunk and roots. 🌳🦋 It's truly a masterpiece of art and engineering.
3. No plastic straws!
From day one, Animal Kingdom banned plastic straws and lids to protect the animals—way before it became a trend! 🚫🥤♻️
4. Kilimanjaro Safaris is bigger than the entire Magic Kingdom.
The safari covers about 110 acres alone, giving guests a realistic feel of an African savanna with real animals like giraffes, elephants, and lions. 🚐🌾🦓
5. There used to be plans for a “Beastly Kingdom.”
Originally, Animal Kingdom was going to include a land dedicated to mythical creatures like dragons and unicorns. Some nods to it still exist in the park’s design! 🐉🦄
Whether you’re exploring Pandora – The World of Avatar 🌌, trekking through Asia 🏞️, or enjoying a peaceful ride on the Wildlife Express Train 🚂, today is the perfect day to celebrate the wonders of our planet.
